Apart from Danny Mayor coming off the bench, why has DF not used any of the other 1st team professionals?. If the players dont want to play or cant be arsed, then maybe he should use them. He must of signed them for a reason.
Why should we have to call on 'daddy' for players who are the same age as our 1st year professionals, shouldnt they be given a chance?.
Nearly all of those youth players last thursday showed more effort than our 1st team has done in the past few games.

A) the thread is about 1st year professionals as it states in the title
and b) theres still collins, barton

They're not yet ready/good enough for the first team? Just a thought, like.

Watched the youth team Thursday just gone and I would say that they are worth 10 minutes here and there. Little Number 11 was cracking hopefully he won't be overlooked because of his height. showed class on the ball and took on players twice his size.

Procter looked able and strong on the ball...didn't really dazzle with speed however he has got a good football head on him and liked making probing runs.

Keeper needs to work on his delivery and confidence but he's got 5-6 years to sort that out.

Miller looked tired "He was partying during the week" but shhhh

We out played Everton at times it was only the final 3rd were we struggled a little. Maybe it's because of the defensive mentality that MAY have been instilled under Irvine. Who Knows.

Star of the Show was Number 11 and I can't remember his name...I think he was from Irish descent. That lad will go places if he can just tidy up his end game.

We have not had a decent youth set up for years, and for reasons beyond me, people expect, out of the blue, to suddenly have acquired several professional players at 1st team level in the space of 12 months😱 If we have now got decent youths the only one to thank for that can be Alan Irvine, but of course he didnt use them or have anything to do with them, they magically happened🙄

With out breaking confidence I have some ex PNE youth Players who are employed in my work place.

1 was released because The goalkeeping coach left for Man Utd. The goalkeeping coach tipped the lad to be better than Lonners. The Young lad still only 19 -20 went from PNE to Wigan but his head was broken by what had happened at Preston. When Irvine arrived a lot of Prestons youth were released. A lot were brought in. I interviewed them so I can only tell you what I know from them.

Another lad inside forward nippy not very tall but strong on the ball. Released under similar circumstances. From references the young lad had or has more ability on the ball then Mayor. went to Blackburn but there is over crowding in the youth for the position he plays currently seeking a new club. He does have an offer to go play for a Conference side and has options of getting fit and trial at a league 1 side.

If the face doesn't fit sometimes or the personality isn't quite right to fit with the seniors they are released. they could be fantastic footballers but there is more to consider.

I agree with this to a certain extent. These lads are someway off first team football, but some should be given a chance every now and again. However, I think its down to Simpson that we are now ranting and raving about the youths. He brought in the youth system we know have Ramsdale and Hoyland, and from what I've heard, blocked advances from local Premiership teams for a couple of the current youths when they were around 14/15.

Simple, a 1st pro contract is just a booster, to say they looking like they good enough, they need this to train around the professionals. Within time they will get thier chance or be able to be loaned out to get experience. I not sure you can loan a youth player out that hasn't got a pro-contract. So getting them on pro-contracts, get them training round the first team, get them use to that, maybe loan them out to a few lower league clubs and then they come back ready for the step up hopefully. If that fails, they have to chance to impress other clubs and get deals after being released.

Hasn't DF tried introducing a couple of youngsters (one (Mayor) actually played) and obviously thought they are not yet ready for the first team. If that is the case and the first team is such crap (as many would have us believe) then the younsters must be poor in his eyes. I would however like to see a couple on the bench if only to get experience of the difference of playing/being in front of a bigger crowd.

But if they are not playing they would not get that experience, so give them all a free ticket and tell them to sit in the Invincibles they will get the exact same experience there😛

Best to introduce lads into a confident team and not one with our present problems.
