Linganzi (end of season)

Clarke (end of season)
Ashbee (18 months deal)
Hayes (recalled)

OUT

Nolan (undisclosed)
Chaplow 50k
Parkin 300k
Tonge (recalled)
Pugh (recalled)
King (recalled)
De Laet (recalled)
James (recalled early)

HIT A SNAG

Iwelumo (couldn't agree terms, transfer fee agreed).

Has it really been that bad? I'm happy with whats come in and I'm only disappointed with Tonge having an early recall. The rest I can live without although an injury free James would have been a bonus.

You said it all in your first sentence 6 in 8 out we were already short of reinforcements before the window. Quiet happy with the signings coming in though tbh.

You can't include Hayes as an incoming player mate. The Hume deal was done well in advance and we brought Cort in a while back. Lingazi is out for at least a month so that leaves us with Ellington, Clarke and Ashbee. So my way of looking at it is 3 in 6 out as Chaplow and Nolan had been gone ages anyway.

I'm not at all happy!

No i don't think it will be that bad, I don't know why people are expecting Torres to come here or something? We have virtually no money, and the players we have loaned/signed so far have been promising.

Like someone said, Loan markets only a week away, a couple of pacey signings next week and maybe just maybe we will climb the Championship table very shortly.

To end on a plus, I thought we needed a good leader in midfield someone who's not afraid to shape the young ones in midfield. He seems a well experienced League 2? Championship and Premiership player. Can't be that bad? (Ashbee)

We'll not go down

I think the relative success / failure of our transfer activities has to be judged in the context of both our position in the league and the areas where we are seriously short of either quality or quantity.

As such, whilst our forward line is ok and the addition of Ashbee brings some much-needed bite and leadership to central midfield I feel we are woefully inadequate at left-back and in the wing positions.

If Brown Phil is minded to play either 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 then I believe the current lack of a fit left-back will cost us badly in both systems and the current lack of quality wingers will cost us badly if we play 4-4-2.

I understand the loan market reopens on 8th February but that is an irrelevance, in the sense that we have some massive games before then and we need bodies in now to adapt to Preston as a place and as a football club.

For those reasons I think our transfer dealings as of this point in time are inadequate. I hope we can conclude some more business before close of play.

If it stays like that then I'm ok with it too. The loan market is only round the corner.

Am i right in thinking any loan we make after today though is the "emergency Loan" therefore they will not be able to stay the rest of the season due to the length of the loan.
i.e possibly another Hulme situation.

We may lack some quality in certain postitions, but no real hint of rumours so what's the chance of a rumour, medical and a signing all a few hours?

😀

Seriously, a LB would be most welcome but aside from that, i can live with the squad we have until next Tuesday.

If we are looking at bringing loans in once the window opens, why not bring them in now mate?

Your guess is as good as mine fella. Maybe the loaning club{s} are waiting to see if they can bring in their own targets first before loaning to us.

That would be my take on it.

With people flying about people may come out of contest for a 1st team place at a club, therefore maybe being put out on loan to a club, is maybe that what we are expecting?

Possibly mate.

I have to say I'm mad as fuck at the minute with regards to our activity or lack of it.

I know I keep saying it but we've got 2 massive games coming up and a few new faces would have given everyone at the club a massive lift.

What happens if we lose these games and we're even further adrift come next week. Who the hell would want to come here then?
