Loan players have to be signed by noon on the day of the game. We have used this before to sign players on a match day and then make the transfer permanent on the Monday morning. I seem to remember we did this with Parkin.
 
Given the managements stated desire to play 3 -4- 3 with the ball and 5-4-1 without it, given their stated desire to be ugly, given their stated desire to rely on experienced players and learn how to play without the ball (which PB has said Barton needs to learn) and the desire not to upset the applecart too much after a good result at Middlesboro I expect us to line up as follows.

I'd go with this; good shout mate. It actually looks a pretty solid side to me, and I hope to see it in action tonight!

Also, were you thinking of Johnson coming on as a sub ?

Actually, it does:

The deal to bring in United States international Johnson was completed in the final hour of the window, negotiations only starting with Fulham late yesterday afternoon.

He won’t be able to play against Barnsley at Oakwell tonight, with players having had to be registered before noon yesterday to feature – but Ashbee will be in the squad.

Good team, though I suspect that tonight will see Morgan, who has apparently played quite well since the arrival of PB, rather than Brown and, probably, Nicholson rather than Barton. We need two more signings - a mobile central defender and a left-back who can play the left 'wing-half' role. Get them, get Coutts and Davidson back as well and we will have a strong squad with versatility and strength-in-depth.
