BSK Demolished

Mods - you've moved many a thread from this section on the grounds that it's "not PNE related" yet you have left this one which has FA to do with PNE, it's nothing more than one opinionated ego's squabble with another.

So, why hasn't this been moved?

Admit I was wrong? I seem to recall saying 15 minutes into the Bristol City game that Ferguson would bring disaster to our club and what do you know I was right. I was calling Ferguson for being the joke of a manager he is for a good 10 months before the rest of you cottoned on. If only others had seen through Ferguson as soon as I did, we might not be in this mess now.

Not strictly true BSK!

Regardless of what you say the original post is superb. I should know, I wrote it. Now clear off you provincial neanderthal.

Perhaps you are a buddy of BSK who has just been demolished.

Interesting how someone so "useless" is already in demand by a Premier League club. Evertonians are calling for him to be reinstated asap as Moyes' assistant with Steve Round sacked. It's well known most Evertonians credit their previous success under Moyes to Irvine - you only have to look at their demise since he left to see they've got a point. How ironic that Irvine could soon be back in the Premier League as Shaky and Danny prepare to welcome Hartlepool and Yeovil to Deepdale (well, in Shaky's case catch the scores on the red button 😉).

Everton were the best performing team alongside Chelsea in the second half of last season, beating Chelsea themselves, United and coming within seconds of a win at Arsenal. Go figure you fucking gimp. Moyes was, is and always shall be the reason Everton consistently overachieve.

You put some energy into that Norf!

I know Captain but BSK is a little scrote and as you know he was giving no support to DF when he was manager whilst bigging up AI all the time and condeming all those who were prepaired to give DF a chance. Now all I want is for BSK to admit that what he posted, in anger against DF, about how good a manager AI was wrong. But as we all know he is a weasle and not man enough to do so. I know he has been on this MB since |I left my message to him but he is running scared and ignoring the questions as per usual.

I've defeated your argument many times over. Just because you then repeat the same flawed points ad infinitum doesn't make you right. Maybe you ought to go for quality and not quantity in what you write eh Norfolk White? 😉 Unfortunately for you Irvine has a win ratio of over 40% at PNE, just behind Davies and Moyes. Do you brand them as failures?

Let's look again at Irvine's time here again and what happened when he left.

Season 1: Arrived mid-season when we were in the relegation zone. Brief: Keep us up, surely? We finished 15th as I recall so undoubtedly mission accomplished. Of course we saw some great matches along the way, particularly the double over Burnley, home wins against the likes of Stoke, Wolves and WBA, few could doubt this season under Irvine was a success.

Season 2: Derek Shaw always used to talk about staying up being the aim but as fans I think it was always the play-offs that we realistically aspired to. I don't think anyone could class finishing 6th as anything but a very good season with plenty of drama along the way. Who could forget the 3-1 win at Blackpool? The great performance at home to Charlton, the demolition of Wolves away, beating Burnley at Deepdale, and of course the dramatic end to the season where we won at Doncaster, thrashed Cardiff, scored a late screamer to win at St Andrews to set up the dramatic final day at home to QPR. The play-offs are a lottery and there was no disgrace in losing 2-1 on aggregate. This was another very successful season where no one can deny the club over-achieved in a league awash with clubs with far bigger average gates and parachute payments.

Season 3: A mixed bag. A great start to the season and up to the end of September Irvine was defying the odds, having lost St Ledger and McKenna. From the international break in October things went awry but during that period we only lost 6 games, taking something from the other 6. Irvine left us in 16th place, 8 points off the play-offs. No doubt Ferguson came in and would have been looking upwards to the top 6 - at least he should have been. We all know what followed. A watertight defence demolished, players alienated, the tough-to-beat mentality even when playing badly under Irvine annihilated. 2 months of struggle earlier in the season became 4 months of abject misery. Performances like Barnsley at home (1-4), Swansea away with no shots on goal (0-2), 5 shipped at Derby, not to mention Ferguson claiming a 0-3 loss at Newcastle was real progress. The destruction of a solid side that just needed the injection of some pace and creativity was shocking. Ferguson inherited a decent side that Irvine had got the best out of for most of his time here but completely destroyed it.

Season 4: As bad as it gets. Joke tactics, awful team selections, poor signings, zero team spirit. Ferguson ought to hang his head in shame. Need I say more?

I think the above highlights how under Irvine PNE were outstanding for all but a few months of his 2 years here, it took him a little time to find his feet, we had a mini blip part way through his only full season and hit a patch of poor form in the final 2 months. However, every team goes through dips in form. The fact is however that in his first season here we showed play-off form to escape relegation. We then finished in the play-offs the following season before climbing as high as third after 2 months or so of the following campaign, despite the heart of the midfield then the defence being ripped out the side by the board. Eventually this was bound to catch up with us but Irvine still had us generally being difficult to beat - that's a foundation for success and Ferguson should have been able to embrace that. My criticism of Ferguson has proven more than justified as he set about creating a modern day, extended version of The Damned United. Our position today is down to him. If someone like Phil Brown had inherited Irvine's squad 12 months ago I'm confident we'd be challenging for the play-offs again now.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself Norfolk White. You continually slate a manager with a very good overall record here while making endless excuses for perhaps the worst manager in our history. Are you a big Tommy Docherty fan as well, but not so impressed with Moyes and Davies?

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The important thing about Irvine is that despite the 'success' 🙂rolleyes🙂 he had at PNE, the legacy he left was shocking. He left us with a team of overpaid shirking prima donna footballers, something which neither Moyes nor Davies did which makes them far better managers and for me makes Irvine unforgivable. A lot of the shit we find ourselves in today is due to the excessive spending of Irvine but I doubt that little turd bsk4ever is willing to admit that.

The likes of Parkin and Wallace seem like a decent legacy to me.

BSK your incompetence knows no bounds! Parkin made a massive LOSS for PNE. All of Irvine's transfers, bar Wallace, which cost £7m in transfer fees before even wages and pay offs are considered made PNE a massive LOSS. You simply do not possess the business savvy to understand these simple points Sonny Jim.

Just a question:

Why are you on here trying to post in a similar manner to Voldemort?

It's a very good post BSK but although you were correct about DF you never supported him and slated the guy at every opportunity. I still believe DF had a better eye for a player than Irvine Treacy, Coutts , Russel and he gave the youthful players a chance. DF was tactically nieve at this level and Morgan and Gray were mistakes in my view , but at least you never felt you would fall asleep during a game like under Irvines tenure. It's time to move on BSK now please start supporting the team.

BSK, you are such a prize prat, just answer all the questions I put to you in Post 80 if you are not too scared to. If you read it carefully you might note that I state that I am not talking about AI's time at Deepdale but at Hillsborough. You stated on a number of occassions how great AI was as a manager and that it was a "fact" that he would be getting Sheff Wed promoted this season. Tell us what went wrong? And just own up, you got it wrong.

You state that I should be ashamed of myself but i didn't hide or refuse to give a straight answer when you asked me a question - it is you that should hang your head in shame because you continue to twist the questions by giving answers about AI's time at Deepdale when this is not being debated. If you continue yo refuse to answer the questions in Post 80 then this will just strengthen mine and others opinions of you in that you have no backbone.

If Irvine had been given until the end of the season, how can you prove he wouldn't have got Sheff Wed promoted? It's not my fault he wasn't given the time to turn it round. 🙂 I'm only interested in Irvine's time at Deepdale as this is all my assessment of Irvine has been based on. My argument has never been that Irvine is a great manager but that his time at PNE was far more successful than people like you give him credit for. Isn't it just time to drop your vendetta now? It's over a year since he left! 😱
