Passion, drive and players putting their neck on the line for Preston End End!

I know it's only been a few days since Brown Phil left, but I feel that there was a noticeable difference yesterday and I think that GA and DU have got them fighting for the badge again.

In my opinion, it just shows that we need someone at the helm who knows Preston North End through and through!

Early days I know but I'm already feeling prouder as a PNE fan!

Totally agree. At one stage we had Tsoumou, Parry and Smith all chasing down the ball at once, and then Smith got a bit of a knock from winning possession. The players now look like they are actually playing for their managers, something that never looked like happening under Brown.

I was impressed with the defensive efforts yesterday, couldn't help but wonder how many we would've conceded had Brown still been in charge.

A lot of truth here, from the trash we have had to watch recently, last nights game was such a pleasure to watch.

I did think that if anybody got get the players to be more passionate and committed, it would have been Grezzworth as they love the club.

The job should go to Alexander and Unsworth (or one of them at least - I think they should work out between them who's number 1 - prob Unsworth as Alexander is still playing). Appointing externally hasn't worked out for us in living memory and we have we got to lose by giving them until the end of the season at the very least.

The only manager out there who I would even consider is Billy Davies and I just can't see that one happening.

Unsworth/Alexander will maintain consistency and stability (don't be fooled into thinking everything Brown has done was bad - we have made progress in the last 12 mths - we're a better side than the one he inherited). They care about the club, they want to prove themselves and the players clearly respect them. Also looking from the outside two more respected young coaches you will struggle to find.

Merry Christmas PNE. You've got an early Christmas present. Don't expect other teams to be as charitable though or to always get Marriner as the Ref.
Only joking. We were poor yesterday and would probably have done the same in your position. (I was actually born in Preston, so can sympathise)

Got to agree.

Even if it was just for one match, Grezza and Unsworths contribution to a possible turn around is massive. It was a great turn around considering just how awful we were in the first half last week.

It was vital we got a good result going into two very tricky matches coming up, I'm in no doubt that had Phil Brown been in charge we would not of won last night, especially in the manner we did.

One lad summed it up for me last night; Adam Barton. When he came on I thought it was a huge mistake, I thought he wouldn't close down, not put his head on the line.

He proved us all wrong, he went up for one header and got injured. The usual wussy Barton wouldn't do that, is that due to the managers putting fight back into him, because he looked like he wanted to fight and earn his place last night. As they all did, I just felt Barton was a good example.

Agreed. I thought that they did what had to be done & they did it magnificently. 😎

Barton put in a good performance, all credit to him. The one worry, which we, thankfully, overcame, was that when Mellor left the field we had to change our shape, with Barton playing behind Hume as our lone striker. What this told me was that we do really need to bring in a decent third striker to compete with Mellor and Hume for the front two positions. Neither Proctor or Tsoumou are ready yet, although they do need to be encouraged. Injuries to Mellor and Hume have cost us dearly in our run of poor results because we haven't been hurting sides when one, or the other, or both have been absent.

The moment I saw the line up I felt the side looked balanced, and it looked like the manager had put each player into his best position. It also highlighted the absence of this ability in the outgoing manager, Phil Brown.
Parry on the left, Mayor on the right. Goal within 7 minutes. Most fans could have called that positional change. Brown couldn't see it. Coutts in centre midfield. Most fans called it. Brown couldn't see it. But hey, what do fans know, right?

North End tore Wimbledon apart for 20 minutes at the start, and actually deserve criticism for not going 3 goals up during that early dominance.

Liked the way your manager banged on about that PNE should've had ten men but conveniently forgot about our stonewall penalty and our player getting booked for it, the ref branded out yellow cards for a laugh against our players
