We must have done something right to have stopped the form team from scoring. If Grezzworth follow it up with a win against Carlisle and Sheff Wednesday then you can't really go ahead and appoint anyone else as manager.

You've used that one far too many times, you need new material Shaky. Care to point out where your opinion differs to mine or are you going to be a complete tit all of your life?

Never used it before, the first time I've seen it myself when I searched "facepalm".

As I said in a different thread, hero worship of a player does not fit into my criteria of who would be the best choice of manager. If it's a choice between Davies and Alexander it would have to be Davies regardless of the result on Boxing day. The way we were under the cosh after Mellor went off against a poor looking MK Dons side on Saturday we'd be lucky to beat Carlisle, let alone Wednesday!

It's not hero worship, it's an opinion. If Davies was truly interested then I'd have him back in a heartbeat, BUT as others have pointed out if he did come back he'd remove the currently in place backroom staff and that'd destroy all of the progress the youth set up have made over the past few seasons.

If Grezza & Unsworth continue to do the business then 'hero worship' is irrelevant, was that your argument when Moyes was given the job?

I was playing fuck when Moyes got the job as it was obvious we'd gone for the cheapest and most convenient appointment available. It was quite remarkable and incredibly lucky that this journeyman defender who seemed to spend every game seeing how far into row Z he could kick the ball would turn out into one of the best managers around.

It's one of the few times I've ever been wrong.

Is there only me that thought we looked shit against MK Dons????

Nope, I thought MK Dons were unlucky not to win or at least get something and the game stats reflect that. We didn't fall to pieces though and I reckon if Brown had still been manager we would have.

The more I think about it, the less I want Davies to come back. If he brings all his backroom staff with him, surely Unsworth, Alexander, Hoyland and Ramsdale will have to go to accomodate them. Then as soon as a better proposition comes, he buggers off and we're left with nothing.

It's a tough one though, because I'm unsure whether Grezzworth are ready yet. However, I disagree with Durutti, I think Unsworth should be manager with Alexander as his assistant.

Agree with everything you say

I was also absolutely gutted we appointed Moyes. Then thought there were better candidates than Billy Davies for the job when he was given it (he'd failed at Motherwell remember). Appointing from within sometimes works, it depends on the bloke. Everyone in the game seems to think Alexander is a remarkable character with a stand out personality (as did Moyes and Davies in different ways) which might mean he turns out to be a good manager, he might be totally shit. I'd be worried if Unsworth was appointed as manager as he strikes me as a chancer.

The safe option is to invest a bit of money and get Davies back, the cheap option is GA with Unsworth as manager. As for the other options I suppose O Driscoll or Dave Jones would be the best bets.
