He wasn't given the money to bring in anyone else. Do you honestly think Billy didn't want any of the numerous Premier League players we could have had. The Board didn't sanction them.

You could use the same excuse for all the shit players Phil Brown signed couldn't you?

In a way you could. However players were hardly desperate to join us in January. With regards to Marcus Stewart, we had a lot of players interested in joining us. Our board wouldn't fork out for them.

The only worry I have is knowledge of the squad. Billy gained it as assistant to El Browno for 2 years.

As it stands his only knowledge of the current squad would externally be via his media centre. Alexander and Unsworth have the upper hand here, for the moment. Would Billy work alongside Unsworth? Alexander?

Meanwhile, the man to take the decisions on all of this is also an outsider, although he's been doing a fine job of getting up to speed so far.

I think the answer is to keep as many of these fellows at Deepdale as we can. Including the master, naturally.

Our best player Hume seems to think the best men for the job are Unsworth/Alexander. I tend to agree with him

That isn't always a very good recommendation, the players might think they're ion for an easy time as opposed to Davies who'll have them grafting their bollocks off.

I left Preston because I genuinely felt they needed to be a little bit more ambitious in their outlook, when we had a golden chance to reach the Premier League.

"At the end, let's say there was a fair indication from them to me that a 'cashing in' was taking place.😱😱

A bit strange that he says he didn't leave for financial reasons and then is quoted with saying the following............

"I can't see why anybody would begrudge me getting a better salary for my family after what I had contributed to Preston.

Not really - he explains if he was going purely for financial reasons he would have gone to Charlton as they were offering a higher salary

I hated Davies for the manner in which he left, but cant deny he was a decent manager, maybe IF he did come back it would be better that we have a stronger chairman in Ridsdale, cant see him being a pushover, and that would keep Davies in line a bit. Would it make for a better working relationship?

I've heard loads of rumours regarding Davies, the last one being that we had agreed wages and transfer funds etc, but couldn't afford his backroom staff. Hence the stumbling block, who knows anything though? suppose we will find out soon enough.

True i grant you that. I don't know maybe its a gut feeling i have about U/A. Fresh ideas, fresh start, young managers seems to work these days. With Davies i just feel we've been down that avenue before and it turned sour and again gut feeling just says no. Don't get me wrong if he did come i'd still be there week in week out and i'd still cheer his name if he was successful but i personally don't think its gonna happen.

The manner in which he left was absolutley disgraceful, the fans ARE Preston North End so I can't understand any supporter who didn't take it personaly. Nobody has any ill feeling towards Moyes leaving to go to a bigger club have they ? ask yourself why that is, maybe because he didn't try to destroy and screw us over in the process and therein lies the difference. He screwed us over once and he will do it again at the drop of a hat.

Moyes left with just 8 games of the season to go, I believe at that time North End were in either 7th or 8th place, within spitting distance of a second play off qualification in the same number of seasons, they gave the job temporarily to O'Hanlon, we missed out on the play offs, so in my mind not much difference between what Moyes did compared to what Davies did.

Bottom line is as we all should recognise by now there is NO LOYALTY IN FOOTBALL NOWADAYS!

If a bigger club came in now for either Alexander or Unsworth, offered them a permanent managerial position, with better pay, do you think they would stay at Deepdale?

Not a chance! And I wouldn't blame them as I am sensible enough to recognise what I have just posted:

THERE IS NO LOYALTY IN FOOTBALL NOWADAYS!

And that goes in both directions, ie Craig Brown, Paul Simpson, Alan Irvine, Darren Ferguson, and Phil Brown all got the boot out of Deepdale, and I bet the lot of them think they should have been given more time............so they probably left Deepdale muttering under their breath:

"THERE IS NO LOYALTY IN FOOTBALL NOWADAYS"!

Get it yet?

What is Moyes doing these days? Oh yeah, still managing in the top flight. Davies? Out of work.

Let's compare apples with apples shall we? Moyes left to join one of the only two clubs who have never been relegated from the top division since prior to world war 2, not quite the same as taking over Derby or Forest in their current situation at the time was it?
