The 'Rebellion'

The 'Rebellion'

Strange post really. Who's left from Simpson's time? Alexander, Mellor....?
You only need one bad egg to continue spreading its stench, they might not still be here from simpsons time but you can rest assured their legacy is. Certain players did not want to be here once Billy had gone, perhaps we should just have got rid then. Eh Carlo!

I totally agree about Nash. As for the rest, I find it hard to accept that someone who is no longer at the club is still a source of unrest. I strongly doubt that Alexander is/was a bad apple and Westley seems to want to keep Mellor...so who's left.....could be the Duck? 🙂

A managers job is to manage. The first sign of managerial weakness is a media pronouncement that there are bad eggs/players not onside etc. Deal with it. Its to be expected as an issue on arrival at a failing club and its what you're paid shedloads for. If you cant deal with it, bugger off.

McLaughlin. Forwards on the text, Hunt signed to play when Gray was out and then shipped out on loan.

Players have every right to refuse a new training time.

But will fully expect to be moved on when first chance comes around.

I think there has bee a bit of a fans rebellion too. I have problems with some of his techniques and signings. But I'm giving him a chance because some of his techniques work and his conditioning philosophy would help massively with any team.

BUT BUT BUT. We need results this is a results game and no philosophy should buy you time. Bury tomorrow is a huge game for Westley. Ill back him but no blindly.

Possibly the most appalling statement i have ever read on this forum !

If most of us 'refused a new training time', unless it was outside our normal contracted hours, we would be on verbal/written warnings, full disciplinary procedure-no waiting until our contract was up! These players weren't being asked to work outside 'normal' hours. I have no idea what their contracts state but would be surprised if precise training times were included.

Absolutely. But the poor, put-upon players can do no wrong, according to some.

Then the evil Westley gets his claws into the club, and all of a sudden those players who were all busting a gut to make PNE successful, decide that he is wrong, because they were all doing such a great job before his arrival.

You really couldn't make it up with some of the bleeding hearts on here. None of our players have acheived anything of note, time to knuckle down and do what they're paid to do, ie. put in 100% and try and win football matches. Trouble is, some of these players think they're doing us a favour representing PNE, when in reality all they've been doing is coasting along on easy street. If this were not the case Phil Brown would still be in a job!

I remember the 1986/87 promotion season like it was yesterday. Alan Ball Snr I can only draw upon what older supporters say.

Westley would never sign players of the ilk of Mooney, Ellis, Bogie, Patterson, Joyce, Swann and Oshor Williams. They would be too strong characters for him - he'd rather sign robots.

selective memory Danny, Do you remember the les chapman years? the McGrath years ended with sit-down protests outside the pavillion.

I'm open minded but I think I'd rather endure a few nil nil draws and pne sort out the wasters that have been bleeding us dry than continue on the phil brown easy street.

westley seems to be o. a mission, chapman ended up as kit man, I know what person I would prefer to be in charge of the team.

Oi Oi... Calm down.

Im not saying its right ffs,but they dont have to whether you think they do or not . With the likes of Carlysle he was sent back and some others where let go.

Football fans need get real, understand that some players dont want to train at 6pm, take supplements or be told they can now only eat chicken and not have 3 meals a day but eat every two hours.

Westley will find that wherever he goes and he will worm them out.

But fans who expect players to give blood and sweat will forever be found wanting whether you like it or not.

Westley is very intense and his training hours, fitness regime, supplements, blood tests etc are extreme. He seems convinced that combining his methods with the right players will bring him and the players great success.

As I see it the players can join in and hope to share in that success or leave. I am sick of player rebellions. If they do not want to be part of Westley is doing either leave when their contract expires in the summer or go on the transfer list.

I suspect a huge part of the problem is that those who have been rocking the boat know that they will either not be able to find another club or if they could they would be earning far less.

I think all Westely can be accused of is sweeping a little too firmly with a new broom. Anybody in any business that has managed people using different methods than a previous regime will meet with resistance. As a manager you either mediate and 'nurse' the egos of the key individuals or you stick by your regime.

I applaud Westley for doing the latter. His expectations are high but the training regime not unreasonable. There was a wave of optimism on these forums that Westley's appointment would get to the heart of what was rotten in the last few years of mismanagement at the club. You cannot fault the guy for trying! As for players not wanting to train late etc.. then go and get a job that pays less for longer hours!

Westley's job is to manage, and his assistants to train .. this has to involve telling players what they can and connot do, eat, etc..

Spot on.

Clarke Carlisle refused the training hours which is why he was sent back. He wanted to be allowed time for his other roles.

I find it sad how people are saying Harry Bunn and Jake Jervis are class acts when they barely saw them play also. It's fucking frightening how quickly some people make assessments and judge people!
I might be playing into your poitn a little here, but I also thought Jervis was poor anyway. And I didnt get why Bunn was so highly rated.

saying that, id have them both playing ahead of anyone Westleys signed up front sadly.

absolutely.

wonder how much of the blame for westley's poor start results-wise should be laid at the door of the rebellious players.

i'm not exactly ecstatic about the performances and results (all season for that matter) but players undermining the manager is inexcusable in my book. well paid, priveleged and effectively putting two fingers up to each and every north end fan.

This is just you trying to put a positive spin (much like Westley himself) on the utter dross being offered by Westley.

Mr. Westley just look a few miles down the road and see the job that Moore is doing at Tranmere, played 6 won 4 drawn 2 and lost none with only two additional signings, no massive change in staff just getting the best from a bunch of players who had only won once in their previous 17 matches.

What was the point in you attending the forum last week Westley, when asked about keeping the players on the pitch after the game you said that it was a point well made and was something you could change and like the football nothing has changed.

It is tragic watching a player as who gives his all for PNE having to try and work for a tactical pygmy such as Westley, 4-4-1-1 against Bury at home, then a bit of 4-4-2 when trying to close the game out, Holroyd on as a sub and subbed, Aneke in support of Hume and finishes on the right wing, fullbacks who NEVER overlap and all led by captain missing, it is a shamble Westley but we are stuck with you, just bloody great.

Fully agree with you. Westley got a lot wrong today. He also thinks we should have been 2 or 3 up by the 80th minute!!!!

Does it really matter what he does this season, as we are neither going up, nor down surely.

For this reason I am prepared to give the manager more time to deliver, although I think the offerings so far are shite.
