Under Davies the pitch was a lot smaller and narrower than it is now and it changed sometimes game by game. The pitch had changed size a number of times over the years - I predict the pitch will be made narrower again in summer - they hVe strict parameters to work in, but narrow pitches help certain game styles for instance Westley wants us to play compact in the middle and more direct football a narrow slightly long pitch will work best.

That's not what he said at the forum. He said the pitch didn't suit the squad he inherited. To play on a big pitch you need players with pace and technical ability, something we are lacking.

In his interview on player he said we lacked pace on the flanks yesterday and that we needed Danny Mayor to exploit the width. It's a disappointing admission that we have no pace in the starting 11!!
I fully expect next season the pitch will be so long and narrow the goals will be six feet higher than the centre circle. because they will be on the sixth row of the stand ! and you will need binoculars in the finney and invincibles !Under Davies the pitch was a lot smaller and narrower than it is now and it changed sometimes game by game. again though, we've brought in 11 players now under westley and not one of them has any real pace, despite the laughable declaration that players like Holroyd were pacy.
This lack of anyone with any real quickness has been a problem for ages really. We are so pedestrian its unbelievable.

Going by your opinions both which i second, we will be playing on a postage stamp next season and knowing our luck it will be sticky side up!- or a manager with some tactical nous to make the most of it - something we are also lacking.

Can I just clarify... we need a small pitch so that we can play crap football?

Which is a valid point, but many on here will choose to ignore it.

Only 4 of those are under contract for next season. I am expecting 7 or 8 signings in the summer. Hopefully at least 3 or 4 of them will be quick enough to render the narrowing of the pitch unnecessary.
