David Amoo Released / Joins Tranmere (Confirmed)

Separate issue but notice Todd Kane on loan at Blackburn. Probably be a world beater for them knowing our luck.

Good post.

For the last few seasons, North End seem to have had a club policy of employing a muscular, super fast, black lad, who is a brilliant athlete, but can't actually play football. There must have been one such player in the squad at any one time in the last 5 years. Amoo was latest, Agyemang was the first and best and Eddie Johnson was another, but there have been at least a couple of others, who's names for the moment escape me.

Can anybody help?

Habib Sissoko?

The releasing him part makes perfect sense. It's the fact he signed him in the first place that worries me.
exactly...amoo was hopeless for us mind you just watch ronnie moore get the best out of him. the problem for me is westleys complete lack of judgement

Fair point but even the best managers get it wrong at times. Alex Ferguson signed Bebe! 🙄

Also if you think about how many fans were delighted when we got Amoo then it is clear that anyone can be mistaken.

Yeah that's fair comment, but he's not the only one. In one year he's signed and released: Amoo, Holroyd, Hunt and Brown. Also had very unsuccessful loan spells with Murphy, Aneke, Elding and Kane. He's also pulled the rug from Cummins by the looks of it. I'm a bit concerned regarding his eye for a player.

I agree he is hit and miss with players and our turnover of players is high considering we are after stability. I reckon last seasons signings of his was more about surrounding himself with players that would accept his methods after the rebel from the players he inherited.

I question the selection of his players at his disposal, not playing Cummins but selecting Elding and Beardsley, ditching Kane, Welsh, Huntington etc after poor performances.

I reckon we have a good squad at this level, credit must go to Westley and Ridsdale for assembling it and hopefully with some decent additions we can push up the table.

What an excellent few days.

First, Elding, whom I never rated from Day 1 here, has been sent back. Hurrah!

Now, today has seen Amoo fired off, another player that I never rated. Even more so when you compare him to the 3 years younger and more inexperienced Monakana.

Add the signing of Joe Garner into the mix and I'll suggest that it's been a good few days for Westley.
