PRESTON North End Football Club is marketing the space once used by the National Football Museum.

The museum was established in 2001 at Preston's Deepdale Stadium - the oldest continually used ground in the world - but closed in April 2010 ahead of a move to Manchester's Urbis building.

The Deepdale site was being used for storage but is now available to rent.

Agent Nolan Redshaw is marketing the 6,500 sq ft ground floor unit which faces Sir Tom Finney Way at the main entrance to the stadium.

Mike Redshaw said: “As the space is open-plan, its flexibility means that it has the potential to be either extended or split into smaller units. We look forward to securing an operator that will work in partnership with Preston North End Football Club.”

Maybe a long shot..... but wonder if it could be converted into a decent pub? I am sure, that if it was done, it would be a budy place? Especially on matchdays.

Planning has been put in to develop a pub/hotel on the old Deepdale Centre site just across the road next to Sainsburys

It would have to be a Restaurant Pub like Ribble Pilot or Phantom Winger. That way it will get visitors. If it was just an ordinary Pub it would not work. The Locals are Asian and its not in a decent spot for punters. People will however go there to eat like they travel to the Phantom Winger. Imagine having Tea looking out at the Pitch;-)

Agree it would have to be more than just a pub doing only good business on a match day. How about some sort of PNE themed museum? We have so much history and if this was incorportated into a football bar/restaurant it might manage to stay solvent. However I would like to see it as a bar only on match days.

It could be used to house a museum, even a football themed museum........treasured memories of the game with artefacts donated from varoius sources.

You could have a shop and a cafe - how about a penalty shoot out competition ?

It will have to.be somebody with a lot of money to spare. The business rates, the cost of heating, the lightting the floor space to rent! This is one of the reasons The National Football Museum. had to move to a council that could cover these costs. As urbis was a white elelphant for Manchester City Council this could be the same for us! It will have to be something that can be used 7 days a week and can generate enough income to cover the costs of the building that's not counting their staffing it and so on!

Except that you can't see the pitch from the ground floor.

I thought it was in the news last week that it was going to be used for a research facility to back up the museum in Manchester? So what has changed?

A pub type facility would be nice. There are several pubs near football grounds that only get custom on match days but dunno if it would work tbh. The only way it would IMO is if the culture changed to being more like rugby i.e. instead of everyone arriving at 2.30 and rushing away afterwards arriving early, have a few beers, watch the game, and then stick around for an hour or afterwards. Can't see it.

Casino would be awesome, and the lack of windows would suit it as well!!

There would only be on table with the option of looking onto the pitch.
