It is a very different Coventry than we faced last time, clearly they are looking to use Clarke and then get players in and around him.

I am not sure I buy into all the Byrom baiting, though whether it was necessary to get back at McSheffery is open to debate.

So we find ourselves in the same place as we were last time, hopefully the second half will also be identical 🙂

Neil Mellor is saying that the final ball is the problem or the lack of it is the problem & he says we need more urgency in our play & runners to the runs which we aren't doing at the moment.

Absolutely shocking 45 minutes with crap defending, no attempts on goal and no creativity or urgency in midfield.

Not good enough Westley.

This is the first chance I've had to watch North End all year, and within 10 minutes I noticed a major problem. It's not the strikers, it's the lack of a deadly passer in the midfield. We had the bulk of possession in the first half but did nothing with it. Most of our play was lofting the ball upfield hoping that someone would latch on to it, and whenever we would try and string passess in the middle of the field they would be cut out. We need a good decision maker in the center of the field!

Byrom stifles our midfield and gets in the way of Wroe and Welsh doing the jobs they know!

He's just a useless fat shit that's in the way!

We're effectively playing with ten men. Byrom is the invisible man again, and pushes Wroe out of position when he's doing whatever it is he is supposed to do. Jeff on for him and go for it please Graham...

I think we need a little more than identical ? 😉

Lots of the ball but done fuck all with it. Coventry should be three up ,don't think there keepers had a shot to save .
very very dissappointing.
must bring jeff on for the second half, get a bit of pace down the right .

Can't believe how shite that pitch is at the Ricoh, every ball in the middle of the park is turned into a hospital pass.

We find ourselves a goal behind from conceding a set piece, we've played the better stuff but have created little and Coventry have been decent on the counter and Leon Clarke has had two chances that he's wasted, he still looks dog shit.

Byrom again, offers us nothing, get Monakana on for him at half time and get Holmes down the left.

Should Simmosen of done better with the goal?

3/4 Defenders not picking up there men and you blame the keeper , don't go for the easy option will you . Bags of possession yet no crosses its crying out for someone to put there foot on the ball and make a few telling passes , oh and some consistency in choosing a back 4 wouldn't go a miss .

anyhoo another 45 to get it right UP THE NOBBERS

I'm sure I've watched tonight's performance countless times already this season. Some endeavour, bluster and decent play in the first 20 mins. Yet, we get to halftime and we haven't had a shot on target. And now at 1-0 down I just can't see us ever scoring two goals in the second half.

We just have to hope we sneak an equaliser some how. Garner may have to start slipping on some imaginary banana skins in the box. Or we need to seriously start playing for free kicks (as we often end up resorting to once playing sideways balls gets us nowhere).

We've put a lot of energy into that first half without any dividends. I'd imagine Coventry will try to get a grip of the game second half, slow it down and stretch us. It could be an uncomfortable 45 mins of viewing.

Agree, I try to give players a chance but the guy is fucking wank.

Some people are blinded by the odd nice finish and the occasional decent free kick.

But he's shit, completely and utterly shit.

Garner hasn't played since before Xmas & I'm concern that he might get sent off so I would think to take him off in the 2nd half & push King up top with Beavon.

His plan A was go for the nil nil and then penalties.

His plan B will be to hope somehow to sneak a goal for a one one and penalties.

Be interesting to see how he changes things to improve from zero goal attempts to 1+ goal attempt.

I sense our season is slipping down the toilet but let's hope I'm wrong

Utmw!

We've pushed the ball around but have not found the sort of passes that could open them up. Byrom has been anonymous but he is not a wide left player - nor a wide right one come to that. Wroe has been also been poor. On the other hand Welsh has been really aggressive and our most composed player is King. As I said before the start we would have been better with Procter on the right of midfield with Holmes on the left. But now that we have gone a goal down we need to go straight to a more attacking format. Monakana should come straight on at the expense of Byrom - though you could make a case for Byrom going to the centre at the expense of Wroe - and play on the right with Holmes switching to the left. There is no case for persisting with the exisisting formation. If only we had a proper right-back King could play in central midfield - he really looks like he could give us the composure there that we need.
