Given that we were playing against one of the bigger clubs in the league, who brought a fairly decent following, was yesterday our lowest home following in recent history for a league game?

There certainly weren't that many actually in attendance. I really fear for season ticket sales in the summer.

The true attendance was far far lower than that.

The STFS was empty.

The fans are voting with their feet.

So 7707 home fans should have been on if all attended. Ouch. Next Saturday could our first sub 8000 crowd in years. My mate has invited my paintballing next Saturday, so it will be the first home league game I've chosen to miss in years. Shit fan me.

I was sat in the invincibles and the STF looked to have about 1500 people in it.

HC I sit in the TF Centre section, it was empty yesterday, the row we sit on had the group of 5 including me and two others sat on it, the rows directly infront had similar. I thought the Town End and the Invincibles also looked to have fewer fans in than some of the recent home games. I thought the actual attendance looked to be around the 7,500 mark.

Our attendance is worrying and with Shrewsbury next Saturday I can only see a sub 8000 crowd announced. (Even though we are probably already there).

Only 7,700 of us on, even if that remains the same for next week, how many of the Shrew's going to bring? 200 max? Worrying times.

Season tickets are counted whether or not you turn up. So it's always lower than they say.

I didnt go on yesterday ( i had other family committments ) but i am a ST holder and i assume i will have been counted in !!

It is only to be expected that crowds will drop after we had 11 years at champiosnship level playing some very big teams but now the opposition and the quality of football is not that appealing !!

In 1993 we were getting crowds of 3,500 and between 1993 and 2000 they steadily increased up to an average of 12-13k....

I suppose if the football continues to deteriorate we might get back to 5 and 6K crowds..

We already are!!!

For a city of our size the home support is very poor. The people of Preston don't seem relate to their team as much as they did in the past.
Wycombe recently had their lowest crowd ever since they came into the league at 3200 but then Wycombe is smaller than a quarter of Preston, which makes our figures even worse in comparison to other clubs of our size.

To be fair weather was not great - whilst the snow was none existent in Preston and Leyland i had to big my car out of the drive to even get out. Similar in most areas around Chorley. I'm sure a fair few couldn't be arsed getting stuck in with a shovel just to go to North End!

Ive said this before but for so long weve accused clubs like Rovers and Blackpool of being full of "Plastic" supporters. Like it or not weve had a fair proportion of those over the past 10 years. 13000+ for 10 years or so, 5000 offski when the chips are down. If you think getting rid of Westley will bring them back, well thats what rovers thought when they potted Kean. 11000 down still.

That just emphasises the point not to lose them in the first place because once you do it's an absolute beggar to get them back. Nowt to do with plastic fans more that people will not pay towards watching overpaid Managers, players taking the pee anymore. Loyalty wears thin from the bottom when you are shown none from the top (I speak of the football ruling bodies from the chairmen, owners, and FL and FA.

This might be a decent argument if the population of Preston was over 360,000...do you know anything about High Wycombe (or even where it is?)

I tellu what tho joan, I think I could name a fair few off here whod be there even if we found ourselves in non league, I know you could too.

Will we get them back. not until and unless were up there challenging in the championship TBH

Football is way overpriced as a product but having said that I dont know what the answer is.

Preston is an apathetic City full of "fans" who claim to "support" PNE but only ever turn up if we draw a big team in the Cup. Usually against a team that they "support" via the TV.

As I posted, to much abuse a few months ago, we are a small club with a small support.

Wake up and accept this fact.

Too many fake wankers living in Preston who don't, and never ever will, give a shit about the club I love. The biggest moaners, and we all know them, about PNE are those who don't and have no intention ever of attending Deepdale no matter what Division we find ourselves in. Again, wankers the lot of them.

They probably still think that DS is still in charge and still use that excuse for not attending.

Finally, do you see rival football shirts being worn around the streets of Burnley, as a local example? Very very rarely in comparison to here in Preston.

Fair play to the loyal 8,000 who cheer and support the lads though lean and leaner times, stars the lot of you, you / we know who we all are.

PTID.

people wont pay for shite , especially in these hard times, football is an entertainments business, unfortunately entertainment is very thin on the ground at deepdale. fact.
