The more important question (seriously) is do we want the correct result or not?
The use of technology and officials in the stands making decisions after watching video replays works perfectly well in the NFL, the NHL, international and other Rugby Union games and many other sports.
I have been saying for years that football/soccer needs to get with the times, and use technology to ensure the correct result (or as near as possible) occurs.
I watched the United game on TV and completely the opposite to you identified no contact between Stuckmann and Rooney immediately. Of course, Dowd wasn't even in the picture, he was puffing and panting 30+ yards behind play, and I just knew instantly that he would give the penalty because that is the way the cookie crumbles in big matches in UK isn't it?
Benefit of doubt always going to the big club. It stinks, and the sooner we bring in full technology on the important decisions the better. These decisions are for goal line incidents, and for sure penalty incidents. It needn't take that long, I watch Rugby Union international matches all the time, and a review of a try may take one minute, two at the most.
Some fair points but you lost me at the word "Soccer"
