I've just posted and my posts are not up because they are awaiting moderator approval. What is this and why?
Moderator Approval for a Post????
What's going on?
It started last night. I made a couple of entirely non contentious posts and they didnt appear until this morning after getting the message about moderator approval....

To be fair when you read over certain threads in the ‘everything else’ section of the forum it often takes a few posts (maybe even pages) to find a thread related post. Too much arguing, baiting and at times bullying of posters.
It’s a subsection of a football forum. We need to take it less seriously.
I asked a couple of people who I thought may be in the same boat as me but realise it’s all.
It got so bad last night when I logged on to read the ‘coronavirus’ thread that I was even going to suggest it was now closed as it was literally just a ‘he said, she said’ bitch fight...

Be that as it may there's a process for dealing with that such as banning posters etc. The answer is not to start making the forum require moderator approval. Certainly not without consultation. And if this is the new norm then I'm off.
Shame really as I've made this incredibly funny quip about Steve Walsh's birth certificate saying "milkman" under father as you queried it with someone else. Not to worry, hopefully you can read it later!!So did mine

Even when some posters have been threatened with bans they have just ridiculed the mods on the open forum. It appears some people think they are untouchable and even when banned for a few days can’t change their ways.
Some of the behaviours have been quite childish when we should all know better.
People threatening to leave or stop posting if they don’t get their own way is simply pathetic. Leave... stop posting (this is to anyone making these idle threats) because the forum will still continue and to be honest I am confident more posters would probably join and contribute to debate without fear of the same few jumping all over them for having an alternative opinion
Weren't you banned recently?Even when some posters have been threatened with bans they have just ridiculed the mods on the open forum.

Fine, so deal with those people. Give them another longer ban. Whatever, but don't stop the discussion by those who don't behave like that.Even when some posters have been threatened with bans they have just ridiculed the mods on the open forum. Yeah but I haven’t made a song and dance about it which others have if you look across other threads. I also haven’t bashed the mods over it.... again only need to read across threads.
I also said we should all grow up a level... ‘all’ includes myself.
Oh and I haven’t threatened to leave nor have I had to be reprimanded or have a post removed since my ban

All the above-moderator's job.
Agreed. No one wants people banned but I’d take it over having every post checked prior to posting. Some have made the mods job very difficult and in the past I held my hand up
Morning.
We where testing a new system in which all posts in a particular forum go into a moderation queue, which in this instance was for the News and Current Affairs section,
As I am sure you are aware on Thursday evening I posted this Polite Request.
Sadly a large number of posters have chosen to completely ignore my plea in regards to posting style and content and as we stated we are open to all ideas on preventing the ridiculous about of abuse etc being posted in that section.
It was a trail and about 40% of posts where against forum guidelines which may give you an idea on the amount of stuff we are having to deal with.
I have lifted the approval function as it was only a trail and its the first time it has ever been used on PNE-Online.
I repeat we do not wish to curtail or lead the debate, however unless a significant group of forum users change their current ways of posting and take into account the many other active users/patrons, then bans, thread closures, moderation queues on certain sections may have to come in to help the moderation team.
Moderating is not a "JOB" but a voluntary post and to be fair no-one signed up for most of the crap they have been getting.
I sincerely hope we don't have to do any of the above.
Again I hope this is post is received in the nature it is intended.
Stay Safe.
