Matchday Thread PNE v Sheffield Wednesday - 29/12/23 - KO:7:45pm - Championship

Ooohh Liverpool friends.
Haha, this is when you know you’ve lost the plot and are losing an argument.

When you start with the ‘I bet you think you could do a better job’ 🤡

For the record, not that I need to prove anything to you, but I don’t think I’d do a better job. But then again, I’m not paid 10 grand + a week to do so either, am I?

The next point on his accent is hilarious too. Especially when (as I’ve mentioned on here before) my Mum’s side of the family are from Liverpool so don’t start with that utter shite you complete pleb.

He’s not a very good gaffer. It’s really quite simple. I don’t know if you’ve invested in some Lowey bedsheets, but Jesus Christ, take a step back from them.

As long as the new gaffer doesn't wear white trainers, @Warton PNE will be happy.

But he won't say who he actually wants, just in case his choice turns out to be a complete failure. 😆

A plan of how to win games ! , no clean sheets at home all season , lump it forward , cross it to nobody in the box , where is the movement off the ball ? , why can we not play a ball onto a moving player , 2 shots on target versus a terrible Sheff Wed side but let’s just keep up with the ‘ what do we expect with our budget ‘ mantra ….did Luton say that last season did they hell nor Coventry whose budget last season was not a lot different to ours … two years of Lowe and I’ve no idea what or how he attempts to set up against a side who plays a low block , sits in , closes us down that’s his job and he’s not worked it out in two years … I’ve watched about 7 decent games in two years it’s utter garbage ..

Lowe out ..
I couldn't agree more!
1st half Wednesday were at their most sluggish but instead realising this an upping the tempo, we did nothing.
I've lost count how many times we've played like this in the first half, instead of goin for the jugular

This squad of players has got 2 managers sacked, and they’re on their way to make it a 3rd in under 3 years.

Sooner or later, the club is going to have to realise that if they want a crack at the top 6, they have to invest in a better playing squad.

This team is a million miles off being a play off side. Sacking Lowe won’t change that. Just as sacking Neil and McAvoy didn’t.

We’ll all be here in 18 months time having the same conversations about how the next fall guy manager is guilty of the same things.

Wasting your breath pal.

Such a loser's mentality as well.

People act as though she metamorphisised into prime Vidic, Donned a Sheffield Wednesday shirt and spent the last half our clearing away all our chances. The reality is, she probably shouldve given us a corner and a couple of free-kicks. The only game changing decision went massively in our favour.

We saw her stance when Potts gave the linesman some abuse, and yet 2 more of our players managed to get booked for dissent.

Poor refereeing on the whole, but the mental weakness from our players is unforgivable
The ref had already booked a SW player for dissent before Potts. No need for the players to get dissent bookings.

I don't think Rebecca Welch was anywhere near as bad as people are making out. I liked how she was refereeing the game. It wasn't stop start and I think she was giving what she saw or was advised by the other officials. Nowhere near as bad as people are making out.

I totally agree with your comments about our attacking play.
It's slow, predictable and often ends with a desperate hit and hope Cross.
It's worse when teams get men behind the ball.
Our players look, confused, indecisive and as you say, there is no running into space or getting in pockets. There is not enough of a mutual understanding between them. What do they practice in training?
Leeds manager messed up the other day leaving the kid on all game against Miller. Most managers won't make that mistake.

Re: Evans.

I realise a lot of people have backed themselves in a corner about him, but it needs saying that I think his days are numbered.

The main plaudits seem to be him working hard on the pitch, but it’s actually more that it’s hard work for him. He shouldn’t be the first striker off the bench I’m afraid.
The fact he remains a first team regular both as an impact sub and even a starter is highly indicative of where we are as a club.

Most naive thought in football that. You can’t play high press with a team happy to sit in and defend for 90 minutes. Saw it with Alex Neil. We pressed the fuck out of Leeds one week then the week after lost 2-0 to reading who literally sat back for 90 minutes.

Not excusing Lowe though. His tactics throughout the game were terrible but a high press wouldn’t have made us better.
I thought we did press at times, esp in the first half when they were fannying around passing it out from the back.

That was such a frustrating watch.

Fair play to Wednesday. Game plan executed perfectly.

We just lacked the quality needed. I do think if that Millar strike that came back off the bar is a few inches lower, we'd have gone on and won it, but we didn't. We didn't deserve to with the total lack of any quality in the final third.

Anyone any idea why Keane wasn't on the bench?

Literally the only positive was seeing Riis back on the pitch.

But we've shown that we can't beat teams that sit back by pissing about with it. We don't move the ball quick enough to create gaps. So we need to change it up. I think Neil would have loved the aforementioned 5.

I do think Lowe definitely needs to go... but Ridsdale should be following him out the door.

Can't afford to keep going round and round in circles.

Keane had covid apparently.

Absolutely. Abuse is abuse. Not horrible abuse or nice abuse, no?
Ahh she's nothin to worry about.
The assesser in the stands or wherever will do the report an it will be nothin to see here, carry on.
In my opinion, I thought she was a right arrogant....erm person.
Prancing off with her head stuck in the air after another crap decision
Let league 2 put up with her

agree, i think she did alright and tried to let the game flow - if more refs were like her maybe all the pathetic rolling about and acting may stop - there were no nasty tackles, just solid challenges. not much she got wrong for me unilke the scouse wanker as usual.

Once again tonight we tried to play every through the wings, most of the time through Millar. Very little went central. Then we punt hopeful balls into the box. It was incredibly predictable and slow.

Millar was nullified out of the game early on. They’d obviously done their homework. Plus, he was outpaced. Personally would have swapped sides of the pitch to get him back in the game.

Lindsay, Holmes and Potts were all poor tonight.

Browne was sat too deep most of the game. Didn’t have great game.

Whiteman has been terrible this season so far. He’s not a defensive midfielder! We need to get a grip in central midfield.

Osmajic first touch is poor. He also does very little to contribute to overall play. Stop playing him on his own!

Evan’s was probably the wrong decision. Really like the guy, but he’s becoming less and less effective overtime.

Is tonight all Lowes fault, no. Could he have done better changing things up during the game, yes. It’s just another nail in the coffin.
