Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality
Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy (ooh, poor boy), I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go, little high, little low
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me

Huge leap forwards in mentality and a clear direction seems to be the difference. Players who suit positions well. A down to earth but ambitious squad peppered with young talent. It's a really likeable setup. As much as I liked players like DJ and Riis for their abilities at times, I really don't miss that cupping their ears at the fans bollocks. None of that from this bunch.

Thierry Small and Osmajic showing pure passion and whipping up the fans when they score, it's a sight to behold.

I think the best indicator can be someone like Ben Whiteman who looks transformed under Hecky. We know he has ability but he looks like an all round captain now who is enjoying his football.

Positive stories all round.

I think Whiteman looks better because we have a bit more pace in the team so we can play a bit further forward as a team. He has better options to pass forward now to players ahead of him who are capable of finding space and is showing what he can do with the ball more often.

He’s always been a decent player but never looked as effective as I’d hoped when he joined. Recently he has.

Transformed this season.... somethings clicked! Is it the different players around him? He's got players nearby who want the ball, and can hold on to it. It's not Ali's strength.
But I think his attitude has improved as well, and fitness. And maybe even his captaincy is clearer now?

Having more than one player worth passing into space for to make us significantly harder to mark out of the game, and makes things miles better for a deep passer.

Pace means defenders either have to back off or risk getting toasted by the likes of Small, Dobbin, Osmajic, Valentin, Vukcevic, Offiah, Jebbison...

And if they do, then you can actually pass to feet, and give them the space to turn.

Whiteman discussed the "feel" around the place last night i think in an interview (well i saw it last night on BBC sounds).

That injection of pace was a smart move. I'm just surprised we pulled it off with our budget given how expensive such players can be.

Also helps that he’s a lot fitter this season, meaning he can get around the pitch quicker and opposing teams aren’t able to just stroll straight past him

Looks like Wolves are going to try to get Rob Edwards from Boro.

1. Good for PNE on the face of it as a promotion rival loses a good manager

2. Who would Boro replace him with, if he were to leave?

Heckingbottom could definitely be a contender for that. They're not about flashy managers, usually.

I’d like to think Hecky would have more integrity than that if they did come knocking, especially given they’re a sideways move as it stands. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if he sees them as a better chance for promotion in the long run

Without any bias, Middlesbrough are always a more attractive option than PNE. They back managers.

Have to respect the effort, but fuck me, what a truly awful idea.

The forwards we have on loan have massively changed us.

Their premier league ability to see and deliver the ball quicker (and finish!) is massive.

Having genuine talent up top is taking a lot of pressure of the midfield and defence who would more often than not be under the cosh due to lack of ball playing talent up top, hence it would always go side to side.

We now have players (albeit on loan) that can zip a direct ball in quickly and it gets superbly controlled, we then pass again and / or shoot.

Enjoy this season everyone, we look the best side in years and its brilliant to see this all happening in a PNE shirt!!!

Think i read strongest home form in division with 17 points?

Now that IS entertainment.

In Hecky we trust

PNE!!!
