Possibly Derby's lowest points total, they went up to early and the same applies to PNE.

Putting todays result in perspective this is a very average division (Southamptons managers pre-match comments were spot on) PNE on their day do play some attractive football and on their day like most teams could beat any team in the division.

What we lack is physical presence, pace and mental steel, any team wanting promotion whether automatic or through the play-offs would not have been turned over today so easily by a poor team with a shocking home record.

Unfortunately we support a club that has a reputation for "choking" three play-off finals and various other unsuccesful play off campaigns, no FA cup shocks of note.

So my approach to the play-offs this season I hope we finish seventh (which would be a good season for us) what I don't want to experience is another hyped-up half-cocked play-off campaign with further tears at the end.

So if we scored a last minute winner in the last game of the season, to sneak 6th place, you wouldn't be going mental?........i would!🙂

I think what he's saying he doesn't want the demoralising effect of a playoff defeat to show for all the hard efforts/progress we've made at end of season.

We've had 2 kicks up the backside away from home now (Swansea 4-1). Let's hope we can start going to places like Forest, Charlton & Doncaster and treating the game with a bit more seriousness & desire instead of shoddy performances like today🙁 At places like Old Trafford & Anfield we would get annihilated with attitudes like that!

Understand it's a long way down there but still come on PNE at least show you care about playing for the shirt! Will see what Budgierustler has to say.

We would no doubt be a different team in the Premiership - full off imports from across the world - this lot would score "nil" points on the performance today.

There would be a beautiful symmetry in us being the club with the best and the worst records in the top division.
I'd still take it over not going up and losing AI to Charlton/Norwich/Wigan....etc near the end of next season.

We've been trying to get back to the top flight since the early 1960s and we've been in this division since shortly after the start of the decade and been beaten twice in the playoff final so you will perhaps forgive me if I don't quite understand the 'promoted too early' thing!

Any Premiership team would bear no resemblance to the current one so in theory we could break the Premiership record for being the first side to win the title in the first year after promotion - it's all speculation and guess work as to how we would do - just let us get there (if only for one season)

Too early, I have been waiting since 1962, if we leave it much later I'll be brown bread. We've only had 47 years to get it right.

So if we wait another 12 months, it'll be reet I take it? 🙄

Dont be such a fuckin merchant of doom. The lads have had a blip today, in what has otherwise been a season whereby they have got themselves into a position to challenge for a play off spot, which in my eyes is better than i thought they would do at the start of the season.

We cannot look to nor predict what will happen next season as this season is yet to be completed, and the most important thing at this time is getting back on track in our next game, not wondering what would happen next season if we got promoted this !😕

I have often thought this. I said this on another thread a few weeks back that I am not sure I would want us to go up knowing that we would just get mullered every week and finish the season on 7 points.

Have I missed something or have we got to get there first?

Is that home wins against Man U & Liverpool and a draw against Arsenal?

When was the last time we scouted any players from accross Europe. The furthest we look to is the reserves of rival clubs. I seems to me our scouting network is awful. There must be class players all over europe that nobody knows about.
Ole gunnar Solksjaer was in 4th divison in Norway when United bought him. Obviously there is so much talent out there its just disappointing that we have to look as far as other clubs rejects to build our team

That record will never be broken. Trust me. As someone who watched 31 of our 38 games (plus 2 more on TV, including the only win 🙁) nobody will repeat that level of continued ineptitude and cowardice.

To put it into perspective, we've beaten more Premiership sides this season than we did last.

The whole 'getting promoted too early' is bollocks and was Davies making his excuses before the season began - Hull are in danger of going down, but they're currently mid-table by virtue of their excellent start, whereas Davies maintained that play-off winners were too far behind at the start of the season.

As others have said, it might not be something you need to worry about this season, but don't be scared of the Prem!

something ive been trying to tell people. The prem is only a curse if you are badly managed.

As much as I rate BD, he dropped a real bollock with his signings and his attitude, but then your board dropped a real bollock in following that up with Jewell, who's never allowed himself to be blamed for anything in his entire career and told your players at every given oppurtunity they werent good enough.

Same goes for Charlton giving Dowie the chance to spunk cash on average players, leeds for their awful management at boardroom level, leicester also, Forest had bad management fulls top form the looks of it.

All the teams who have done poorly have done so down to bad management.

Degsy certianly isnt the perfect chairman, but in all honesty, id trust him to make the right decisions IF we ever got to the prem.

You took the words out of my mouth

Many believe it but few dare say it(apart from me of course but then i'm a whistle blower🙂)

you base your esteemed opinion of RVS being run like a mediocre business. But that opinion is bullshit unless you have a knowledge of the competition in the shelving business.

To be honest, I dont think a beggar has that knowledge.

I couldn't give a feck about ribble valley shelving, its pne i'm worried about and the man at the helm of pne just aint up to the supposed aim of promotion to the top flight
If we wanna keep chugging along as a championship club then DS is our man,if we want top flight soccer at deepdale then forget while DS is in charge
