Recently started reading this.

Not a bad book, but whoever edited it is obviously awful at his job- punctuation and spelling errors all over the shop.

To be fair it was self published by someone that hadn't picked up a pen or switched a computer on since leaving school nearly 30 years ago. He's also had to arrange all the distribution and online selling himself.

Makes it all the more impressive imho.
 
Fair enough then, for a 1 man jobbie, it's a damn good show- I figured it had been edited from an outside source- if it hasn't, it makes much more sense.

It had a proof reading of sorts, some of the culprits post on here. I think even the author would agree it could've done with being professionally proofed and edited although personally i think it would've lost some of the ideosyncracies that make it a bit different to the vast majority of hoolie books.

I like the way it splits things up willy nilly- reads like a better biography to me that way. I just get nit picky about typos and spelling errors I guess.
 
Where the F can I buy this book? I'm sure it's awful but I can't really say that without reading it!

I made a special trip to Preston on Thursday only to find Halliwells next to the OBB displaying it in the window but the door firmly locked. (2:30 p.m.)

After enquiring at the sister shop opposite Roper's I was told that "he" often buggers off early on a Thursday!

Halliwells was open all day Thursday, i picked up some new Farah slacks and a nice Gabbici shirt. Halewoods on the other hand sometimes closes early on a Thursday (it used to be half-day closing in Preston) BTW, you won't enjoy the book so don't bother eh you patronising plum.

Thanks for the correction!

I wouldn't be surprised if you are still wearing a nice pair of Farah slacks as your posts have always shown that you are pretty "cool dude". I bet you've still got a mean collection of Ben Sherman "button down" shirts.

By the way WTF is a "patronising plum"? I would say that it was rather patronising of you to tell me what I would or wouldn't enjoy! I only stated my opinion that I thought I wouldn't enjoy a book about hooliganism (But I am prepared to give it a go before I actually condemn it!)

a) That my memory of bookseller names on Friargate was a little confused.

or

b) That in your opinion I was an "patronising plum" (sic) and that I wouldn't enjoy the book.

Neither of these statements coud really be graced with the name "a point" could they? Just, as usual, filling the board with your ill-judged and poorly considered opinions.
