We talked about this on the coach on the way back. The issue is that the club has become so detached from the fans and almost take our support for granted.

The first 45 was amongst the worst I have ever witnessed supporting PNE, we did get a bit better in the second half.

Though the way Irvine summed the game up, was respectful to the fans as at least he didnt make any excuses; apart from saying 'we played shit and im angry' he summed it up well.

They were all pished on the PSG stopover. They didn't even know there was a game. 😛

Yes we did enjoy ourselves despite the result. Good Peter Kay DVD on the coach going down - Series 1 of "Road to Nowhere". Though I think the less said the better about a bathroom DIY DVD on the way back!🙁 Then the lad behind me had a page 3 type poster which he sellotaped to the window, as it was double sided it gave the passing Southampton fans a smile too!😀 Once at the ground the singing (especially pre-match) was brilliant, led in part by Finneymc. Rendition of "We'll be coming down the road" was loud and uplifted our supporters. Hope it came over well on Radio Lancs for all those cheering us on back home.

I was also pleasantly surprised at how quickly we got back from Southampton. I was in Lea Club for 10pm having got a taxi from the PNE Club Shop.

good day out

good day out

785 preston fans made the long journey to southampton yesterday, you all deserve a medal.

A medal for what exactly? Bravery? Loyalty? Emotional upset?

I doubt any of those fans made the trip to Soton for anything but enjoying a good day out to a different part of the world, to broaden their horizons, so to speak, and to take in a football match involving their team at the same time. Most of that crowd was probably London/Southern based Exiles.
Not one of them travelled to Soton out of obligation or coercion - in other words, against their will.
That said, ticket prices are a disgrace, and you could argue that performance related ticket prices could be introduced.
At Deepdale, the club could offer a £5 refund to all spectators if the team fails to score or fails or fails to win, and include it in the contract of each player that the refunds come directly out of their monthly salary.

A bit of stick to go with too much carrot would probably work.

We couldn't hear the North Enders singing on the radio! Only the Saints
fans sadly...🙁

The problem was after we went two goals Southampton fans were loud and supportive of their team with many of them singing whereas we only had a few rows at the back. In most periods of the second half we only had around 5-10 giving it a go. If we kept on level terms or even just the 1 behind then our support would of been more like the pre game atmosphere that we had which was quite decent.

i take it you werent there then

I really enjoyed the weekend, good trip and good to meet some PNE fans in the pub. Shame about the performance, which was totally inept, the tactics just added to the lack of effort by the players esp Parkin.

PSG coach travelled from Kirkham, Preston and Bamber Bridge. I got up at 4.30 a.m. as did most of my fellow travellers. Regardless of the reason for our journey we did turn up in Southampton, shame the team did'** and they had the luxury of staying in bed later, a hotel the night before and flights too oh a nice wage for the inconvenience to them 🙄
