Irvine urges fans to be realistic

Irvine urges fans to be realistic

I think you need to take the answer in the context of how the question was asked. If Radio Lancashire play the interview it's actually Radio Lancashire who suggest the fans should be more realistic and Alan Irvine just goes along with it.

Alan Irvine actually says he is not happy with sixth but wants to be first.

We still have a chance in making the play-offs, if we don't we don't. Irvine's just playing it down, I can see were he's coming from tbh.

Ok North End were diabolic at Southampton, I mean they were really that bad and as for Forrest that should of been 3 points.

Dare I ask the question do some fans expect to much? well you you can argue the fact we do and then you can say we don't.

I'd love nothing more than for Preston to be in the premier league but without patience 😱 and support were just hindering our dream & maybe just maybe in time our dream will become a reality.

We as a club have come a long way in the last 15 years or so and i can only for-see more good times at Deepdale.

Probably a load of bllx but it sounds good. 😉

You make a fair point Mojo. 😉

Irvine has always said that the main objective is to avoid relegation 😕

This link seems to a bit more optimistic from AI:

Thanks for the link mate.

One of AI's quotes:
"I'm hoping that we can get to the Premiership - it's the reason I took the job. I didn't take the job just to be comfortable in the Championship."

I would say that is a fair, balanced quote, Mark.

What a bunch of miserable whining shits we have on here. He says that most fans would have settled for 12th at the start of the season so straight away a bunch of morons think that's all we're aiming for.

He also says he doesn't want to be 6th, he wants to be first but lets ignore those bits shall we?

If, at the start of the season, you had been offered 6th place at this point of the season how many of you would have turned it down? Or is 6th place not good unless £25million has been spent as well - a lack of ambition obviously!

Oi, these are the customers speaking and they have a right to say what they damned well chose YOU moron 😡 How dare you, its simple enough to spend money on something else you know, and after the Southampton fiasco (home and away 🙄) who the hell would blame them. Why the bloody hell should we keep throwing money at people that can't be bloody arsed.

I knew I shouldn't have looked, it's like passing a fucking car crash, you don't want to look but curiousity gets the better of you.

I feel quite ill.

I think its reasonable to expect a decent showing by the players at every game. They don't get 1/3 pay that week for not being arsed do they, nor do we get reduced tickets following another very poor showing by them. So no, the fans ask for what they pay for - entertainment.

Pre-season threads on here did suggest the majority hoped for mid-table mediocrity and quite a few expected a relegation scrap given our transfers. Compared to that expectation we have progressed. (Not saying anything about the quality of football, only points on the board and league position). So that much is just a statement of fact, as is the recognition that fans' expectations are always a couple of steps above wherever we happen to be. If he'd said we're bound for promotion we'd have had the same people up in arms slagging him for being a fantasist. I don't see how he can win with some people.

Nothing but negative vibes coming from Deepdale again. He should be coming out with things like, with 9 games to go we've got a great chance of getting in the play offs and we'll be going all out to make sure we do. Sounds very much like it's job done and anything on from here is a bonus. Speechs like this will have the crowds flocking back.🙄

surely if he just said "we will be doing everything we can to make the play offs" then everyone wins really.

Of those of you that went to both Wolves and Palace, what is the difference between the players performance/attitude at Wolves and then at Palace on Saturday.

Was it that Wolves were shocking or did we play really well like Alan said?

What a stupid thing to say to the press.........

There's me thinking we are in a play-off spot with it all to play for and a rallying cry for the fans and the players to give it one last push over the last 9 games.

Shit......🙁

Not exactly a positive sales pitch is it for mad march! im sure this will encourage fans to renew 🙄

We played really well at Wolves, we dominated the game from start to finish. They scored against the run of play thanks to a shocking mistake, we also had a perfectly good goal disallowed.

Makes the dross being served up now even more hard to take.

Fair play........

To be fair, you don't go calling the customers of a business whose support they absolutely rely on "morons" because they don't agree with its manager 😡

Whilst I am at it, who in their right minds would back a horse with £345-£399+ when they have been assured it will probably finish in 12th position 😱 We already know its an outsider for goodness sake 🙄 Which bit of selling the club is so damned difficult to follow :youl:
