Irvine urges fans to be realistic

Irvine urges fans to be realistic

This is one of the most pathetic threads I have read on this forum and there has been some shit in recent months.................

I really cant understand the reasoning behind looking for negatives all the time and moaning at every opportunity!!

Here we go, Ream Team, Blind Faither etc etc etc blah blah blah from the childish forum elite!!

Perhaps I dont support the club in the same way as these people, I must truly be a shit fan for having a mind of my own.....................

Im so glad that this forum represents a very small minority of a very small minority who have these views. Its a shame that they think their voice is important and relevant!!

Mr.Irvine this one tops all previous PR disasters ! I jest ye not we have over performed. He would have taken 12th at season's start so in that case guys it all fine and dandy to throw away a glorious opportunity and that is precisely what he has just done. As I stated previously the towel was thrown in several weeks ago.

Where is he coming from ? We have to pay £10 million back to Hemmings next year so there will be zero to spend. That is why this opportunity had to be taken when it fortuitously presented itself.

"Progress" Irvine says and he points out how far the club have come. What time dimension is he functioning in because compared to the seasons before Simpson's disaster we have made no progress. The football is dull, boring and mundane. It's just awful to watch. Then by his own admission we have sent Mayor out on loan who could have been actually providing us with some entertainment.

The truth is that nobody actually listens to them, im just so glad im not as depressed as some posters on here.
A couple of wins and a few unexpected points away from home and the same posters will be talking about promotion again, makes you laugh doesnt it.
Sadly there are about 4 or 5 posters on here who think they are important and look for anything to slate the club about, all this does is make the forum a place where next to no real debate takes place as every thread is ruined by endless posts about blind faith and reaming, culminating in playground name calling.
Some posters should take a look at themselves, and grow up😉

PS i demand a top six finish or i will kick the dog

Surely instead of saying " be happy with what you get", why don't the club try and rally the fans to get behind the team for the final push. Most probably like every other club is doing in and around us.

We have done in the past, what's so different about this season? Is it so we don't get built up for disappointment, again.

i agree completely with what you say, we can only hope funds are made available from somewhere because this squad is just not good enough--fact
lets hope you are right about the potential talent of mayor, because next season we may be relying on lads like him

Everyone knows the season isn`t over but truly awful timing to be writing the end of season speech......."I think most fans would have settled for 12th"

How to knock 1,000 of next years season tickets in one interview

Fucking hell Alan .......😡

Preston manager Alan Irvine has asked the club's supporters to remain realistic as his side aim to secure a play-off place.

"All I can say to them is that our players are performing at a consistently high level this season. ."
.

Really? So tell me Al, how do you explain the away from versus the home form? Consistent? Not in my book.

It's a fucking disgrace, but predictably you get the usual suspects happy to swallow any shit served their way by the club.

I'm as mad as a wasp!

Not necessarily. I'm a big Irvine fan, I think the longer he's here the more we'll see the benefits.

BUT this interview for me caps off his worst spell as PNE manager. Firstly he has signed (and needlessly kept playing) the truly sh1te Davies, has got his tactics wrong in the last 2 away games and now he's telling the fans and players the wrong message while we are still in the playoffs.

I'd rather hear nothing from him than this shit.

Alan Irvine is a talented manager but his expectations are far too low.

Yea gods folks, take some happy pills will you.

Ok, it sounds a bit negative but you can see what he is trying to get across, and I agree with what he says.

I ws counting down 52 points all season and anything else is a bonus.

We have 56 points and its still March.

With VERY limited resources we are progressing.

Yes some of this squad are wasters, but they are wasters on a contract that no-one else wants and while they are here we are restricted in bringing in some-one else.

We are supposed to be supporters, lets support them create an atmosphere that any-one will want to play in front off.

It could be worse, we could be lashers 😀😀

Just what we were discussing the other day.

Give people an excuse to fail and they will take it, human nature. When expectations are lowered the foot comes off the gas. I doubt any team has ever finished first when the powers that be tell them that it is o.k. to finish 12th.

ive heard sweet fanny adam and im informed. the average punter will not even be aware there has been a "pr disaster". they will just turn up as usual tomorrow night.

At the start of the season we were promised mid-table, however, as we have been in the play-offs so long i expect no less than a 7th or 8th final position. If we do go up then great, if not, well done Alan Irvine for what he has acheived

come on get real, your telling me our home form is shite. We hardly lose at home, thats promotion standard. So why not away. Absolute disgrace, how are we so bad. WUppy doos its an away game, were pne. The team we got aint good enough but stil pne are a play off team with the best home record, they should be challenging play offs. If irivne had made that statement about 12th at the start of the season many people would not be buying season tickets. Every year, we loose fans because we BOTTLE it, people are fed up eevery year of watching the game and then fucking up , what a waste of money. The fans do not get a mention

Anybody bothered to listen to the full interview? I heard it on Radio Lancs tonight and rather than just pick up the bits BBC on line has highlighted I would suggest you listen to it in full before you start tearing into Irvine.

He is not happy with 6th or 12th as he wants to be first.

Now for my bit.

As ever as in the case with any PNE manager he is limited by finance and the fact PNE has one of the lowest average attendances in the Championship. I remember BD tearing into the PNE fans after booing the team off one night game but some people here still love him. Both Moyes and Davies jumped ship when they felt they could take PNE no further and Irvine may do the same in the future.

My biggest concern is we have borrowed the bast part of £10M to put together and pay the wages of a team of rejects and crocks. On their day they can perform but too many are fit enough to play 30-40 games a season. How are we going o fund a team next year and improve the squad?

Full interview is on this page if anyone can be bothered to listen:

Our home form is great. We have a good squad. I don't understand why we are so shit away. I have been to all but 3 away games this season, and you can see the difference between the way we play at home and the way we play away, we look as though we dont want to win when we are away. However, there have been a few games that we have been very unlucky not to take a point, but unfortunatley our sloppy defending has let us down over and over again.
I personaly agree with Irvine when he says that PNE fans are expecting to much. To be fair, he has been here just over a year, he has had no money and has been un-able to sell a lot of players. In the short period of time he has been here he has been out standing, and some fans don't appreciate that. They expect us to finish in the play-offs. We have a small squad with injury doubts so the chances of us reaching the play-offs are slim. A lot of our fans are way way way to optimistic. Look at where we are now and where we where this time last season. We should be thankful we are still in this divison.
