How many new additions to the squad...

How many new additions to the squad...

No it would be:

Centre Midfield
Right Midfield
Left Midfield (Sub)
Striker
😉

thank god for that. I was going to question your sanity if you really thought bringing in a left winger was more important then sorting out sentral midfield.

What the f*ck happened there? I think you've spent so long on the forum that your mind has actually exploded.

😀😀

1. A central midfielder who can get stuck in and win the ball.
2. If McKenna goes, a central midfieler who can support the forwards.
3. A right winger with a bit of pace - though we could use Mayor.
4. An agile, quick striker to play off Parkin.

Those are the minimum priorities really. However, I think we should look to bring in another left back and another left winger, because Davidson/Wallace are frequently injured/suspended.

One thing to remember is that with this set up we reached the play offs despite an appaling away record. However we did manage the best home record in the division.

The point I'm making is that based on last seasons performance the team is nearly there. If we can performa away AND maintain a decent home performance then we're in for another good season , however I do wish that we good guarantee goals from Mellor / Parkin and the like each match.

I think if we can get our midfield functioning we'll be in with a chance.

Pity about Lee Williamson.

Though the worrying thing for me is the amounts that other clubs at our level are throwing about (Cardiff £4m on Chopra , Derby £1.6 m on someone , QPR £3.6m on some Argentine)...

Do you feel safe we can repeat the trick though. I wouldnt be surprised one bit if the away form is exactly the same, and then you are playing a dangerous game hoping for the same exceptional home form.

We could just as easily be in the bottom 6 next season with no changes at all IMO. All it would take would be a serious injury to Chaplow and with no decent cover we would hit relegation form like we did last season without decent cover for him.

Central midfileder is critical. Chaplow injury or loss of form would cause major problems like last year. Last year an awfully out of form Chaplow was better than any of the alternatives.

After that left back. Davidson when fits shows his age against good young wingers, Nolan should not be expected to play there and had a bad time against SUFC. Hart played 4 and a bit games at LB and looked ok defensively but very very one footed and incapable of crossing with his left foot.

So a minimum of two for me.

I can't see a Phillips type centre forward doing much for us as we don't create enough goal mouth opportunities for that type of player.

at least Nolan can use his left. Although I still think he doesnt look too comfortable using it.

Liek you said though, he shouldnt be expected to play there, and hes looking like a great talent, so for the good of the club he shouldnt play there.

3 players....a right winger to replace sedgewick, a central midfielder and a mobile forward prefereably with a little pace.
/QUOTE]

Its not gonna happen until we lose 3 or 4 of the existing staff ie: Hawley, Carter, Nicholson..

the main position has to be centre midfield, someone to go with a fully fit chaplow! (this could come from the potential swap deal with whaley for either clingan/russell/ spillane etc)

then i would say a speedy right midfielder to challenge with mayor for that position,

then a pacy striker - to feed of the beast or brown

not sure about left back as we have davidson with cover from hart and wallace (if needed), putting carter on the left of midfield.
