im a season ticket holder and do you think me and a lot of others will think when it comes to investing in our club next season. A lot of people will think whats the point of buying a season ticket we might as well wait for the offers to come along and just pick our games. We are cheap enough as it is and Plastic have funding from Sky and every were else we don't have that. Our season ticket holders are our lifeblood and keep our heads above water. I totally disagree and even if you did that and upset your hardcore in the process how many do you think it will encourage another 100 at most and then they will disappera agin. No mate not for me but thats just my view

Why would the hardcore stop buying season tickets and just end up picking games? Isn't that a contradiction in terms? The hardcore will always be there no matter what. The club must run occasional offers like the one mentioned or we will die on our arse.

A Season Ticket holder has no right to complain, and I'm a Season Ticket holder. We already get 5 games a Season free. If we ran an offer like this for 2 games, we would still bet getting 4 games a Season free, which is still excellent value for money! I actually think you would find it would only upset a minority of Season Ticket holders.

What would bother some is the Club moving ther goalposts. ST holders buy their ST on the basis of 5 free games & then all of a sudden it could be 4 or even 3.
Having said that ST holders should also realise the Club need to as much as they can to get punters through the turnstiles.

As a season holder it doesn't bother me and I'd rather have a good atmosphere but I can see where Surf is coming from. We all know what moaners us PNE fans are so it's easy to see this pissing off more ST holders than gaining new ones. Even though nearly all replies to this thread say that they are not bothered, most people who are bothered aren't going to post for fear of looking like a complete numpty (no offence Surf).
Imo it should be done but you can see why the club is reluctant.

Offers like this are essential to getting some PNE fans or just football fans back on Deepdale. Season Ticket holders are not just buying games. They're making a commitment to their club.
Our club needs Season Ticket holders for their core income. If the club haven't said it to you recently, we're (they're) really grateful for your hard-earned money.
But, as a fan, I have friends who don't go on Deepdale.
For instance, the remaining 7 out of my 5-a-side squad who live around Preston, do not go on Deepdale.
PNE have a hard job attracting some fans to Deepdale. This is a great example of the type of deal they need to get some more fans on.
Will it make money? No. Will it attract more fans? Definitely. Will some of those come back? Maybe not. Personally I'd go further. If you haven't been registered with the club or attended a game in the last 5 years, I'd say the club should give you a season ticket for something nominal like £100. That's 19 games free. That's bums on seats.
You might be alienated - thousands wouldn't.

According to the recent poll on here it would only be a small 11% (but still significant) percentage of the shareholders that would be upset.

Something along these lines is worth looking into and we should study what has been successful at other clubs.
PS. There is now a new thread for discussion of "other club offers" in the NEST sub-Forum. http://www.pne-online.net/forum/showthread.php?p=855082#post855082

life blood, heads above water, sorry mate but if you havent noticed we are fucking drowning fast, if something isnt done to increase the revenue stream you wont have a club left to be a season ticket holder of,but then again we dont want to rock the boat, we are a small club in this league, we have no sky money so we better just bury our heads in the sand and do nothing (again) !

Remember surf is very good friends with Derek so it must be true.
I'm a season ticket holder and don't care what the club try to do to fill the ground as i'm sick of sitting in a half empty stadium every week. I will still buy an ST next season no matter what the club do.
I'm a season ticket holder and it wouldn't bother me at all if the club ran promotions to get bums on seats. In fact I would applaud them for it.
We could do with making our next transfer the marketing/PR department from Bradford City.

Good god you speak some shit and that statement is right up there. If the season ticket holders give a shit about the club they will surely praise and welcome initiatives from the club to bring in additional revenue. If you buy a season ticket on the sole basis of "i'm getting a good deal/5 games free" then you can't be the fan you claim to be, you are thinking about it as a customer rather than a fan.
Obviously you can't take the piss with the ST holders but there is plenty the club could do to try and bring on new fans especially with football being a "luxury" product.

We are over a quarter of the way through the season and Deepdale is not exactly busting at seams with fans , is it? This is despite the fact that the club have made a half decent start to the season so something needs to be done to rectify the situation.
The quid a kid thing is an excellant start and yeah that Rovers idea seems like another way PNE could go in attracting fans back to the ground , so good on 'em if they can implement ideas like that.
I can't for the life of me see how STH's would be upset by this or other offers coming in at this stage of the season , they as STH's are PNE hardcore fans through and through and have shown that by parting with the hard earned pre-season but i am sure they will reconise that when offers are made like this its because the club is in the shite.
Also i remember when i lived back home and was a STH one of the major plus's is not just the extra games but not having to piss about outside the ground queueing for tickets , just get there and walk straight on.
Here's a thought , if a STH is ill a couple of times a season and can't make the home game is he going to think "bollocks to buying a ST next season i'm missing my free allocation"???
I don't think so somehow.

+1...................
Whilst I fully agree/understand offers need to be made to entice people in I don't think we will ever see a full Deepdale unless we get promoted, fans will of course take advantage of such offers but then disappear once again so you will always run the risk of upsetting season ticket holders for very litte gain.
I would be much more in favour of medium-long term offers something along the lines of 6 games for the price of 5. One off offers will do very little to increase attendences in the long term.

Not me, I buy mine and my kids tickets because it's the cheapest way to watch every game.
Every season I, and many of my friends, go through the ritual of agonising about buying them, most usually do. But some decide to pick and chose their games.
Too many offers like this would put me into that catagory.
If it dosn't make money, and maybe upsets ST holders whats the point. The club needs bigger crowds to increase reveniew, its a massive part of our funding. Rovers could almost let everyone on free, compared to their other incomes gate money is peanuts. Our club needs Season Ticket holders for their core income. If the club haven't said it to you recently, we're (they're) really grateful for your hard-earned money.

Do that and I, and many more, would get their United and Liverpool supporting mates to buy them a cheap ticket.
I really don't believe that price is the issue anyway. The armchair North Enders I know read every word in the press, watch games on TV etc, and could easily afford to pay. They go to play off finals, big cup games etc, but cant be bothered with Championship football what ever the price.
Only by getting outside investment, and improving the product can we expect to increase the crowds.
