We are on sky 3 times in a month,is that were we are getting the money from?

How much do you get a game?

oops,dodgy spelling!

Every team in the Championship get the same amount of money no matter how many times you've been on Sky.

You sure that's correct? A live TV game can mean lower gates, so I would be surprised if there was nothing in the way of compensation - especially as some teams seem to be on quite a lot!

The fee for North End appearing at home on Sky used to £165k.

That was reported in the LEP some years ago.

If it's gone down, I would imagine that's due to new deal/s being agreed.

I always thought £165k was a very decent fee.

Not true, they also get an appearance fee.

erm i think ur wrong on that one Raef...... the three that come down get far more than everyone else for a start....

Part of the parachute payments agreement, thats whay there on tele more than anyone else mate...

How could anyone determine how the gate v Newcastle for example had been affected though?

For example, if our average gate this season was lets say for arguments sake 12,800, and we got lets say 15,500 for the Newcastle game mainly due to the large away following..............that shows on paper no depreciation in gate receipts as compared to our normal average.

However, had the game been played untelevised on a Saturday afternoon, Newcastle could well have sold the full 6,000 tickets in the BSK, and PNE could have sold possibly another 2,000 tickets to their own fans, making a very good gate of approximately 20,000+.

So if compensation is paid, how can it be calculated in order to properly assess the affect on a possible home gate without TV coverage and also played on a traditional Saturday afternoon?

I think we get around £75,000 for the home Newcastle game. I also think that the change in gate reciepts between a Saturday and the change to Monday (could be 5,000) will mean us ending up with a actual loss on this game. We have no say in this though, Sky dictate which match and also when coverage takes place.

It can't, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be compensation. Presumably the 'appearance fee' as mentioned earlier is enough to cover the shortfall or else there would be clubs up in arms about being selected for live games.

In the Premier League you get so much money garenteed, whch covers your first 10 games. Every game you are featured after those initial ten you get an extra half million or so.

The Parachute Payments have nothing to do with TV fee's, Only this season has the teams that come down got more coverage than the rest, Thats because of Newcastle Factor. All Clubs get a slice of the Pie, however, clubs that been shown on Sky get more for loss of gate reciepts as explained above. Not sure if they get the money as the games are shown or at the end of the season. Whats clear is Newcastle is going to get more Pie than a Fat Geordie called Mike can eat.

It seems like they are. I mean do you really think Rupert Murdoch (owner of sky) would pull a woman half his age without money being involved?

If we only get 75,000 I agree, it could be a loss on the game for PNE, a possible 15,500 for a televised Monday night game v a possible 20,000+ for a non televised Saturday afternoon game = a shortfall of a minimum of 4,500........at 20 pounds per person average that would be 90,000 less taken at the gate, not including other merchandise sales.

Having said that, 75,000 does seem a tad cheap.
