The Cost of Osmajic's Ban

The Cost of Osmajic's Ban

When you look at the fixtures till the window opens in January and our threadbare injury hit squad, I think bringing in Cannon would be too late, we will be well adrift of the play offs by then.
Well someone is looking down on us because we're still 5th after today's results šŸ˜‰

This thread is intended to keep a record of all games played during Millys 9 match ban and how it potentially affects our season. I won't comment on the Sweet FA decision or the sanction, its just a record in one place to keep track of how a failure by the club to anticipate and cover for this in the summer has affected us. Hopefully I can update this post after each game.

Put it this way....i would prefer him in our team than play against him. Opponents will be rubbing their hands as he is banned and we are toothless up front. Smith was a poor acquisition.

To be honest missing 17 games is terrible. I would sell him in January and get a quality striker in but having said that we have been crying out for one for over 3 years. That last night was all on HECKY he got it so wrong

Selling Milly in January would be the most stupid thing to do unless the ban has made him want to move away from the UK. We've had no indication of that and the club are backing him.

His stock is low now. We also blatantly need him back on the pitch. What we need to be doing is keeping him fit, then adding ANOTHER quality striker in January, most likely on loan, so in the second half of the season we're back to having our best side available again. I just hope in the meantime we can get some more points on the board and stay in and around the top 6.

Without getting into the politics of the decision, I think the smart move would be to offload him for as much as possible as soon as possible.

It’s evident the guys a loose cannon, love him as a player but having your talisman banned for a 1/4 of the season every year just isn’t feasible for a club like us. Take a profit with a sell on and replace adequately (im aware under the current regime that’s another debate).

So let's say we could find a buyer, probably somewhere in Europe, not sure we would get more than £4m.
We probably will have to pay out some sell on clause from when we bought him for the reported £2.2m.
So with our paltry budget and what ever is left who would we be able to afford to replace him, I think we would really struggle.

Think the best case scenario is he comes back bags a few until summer then some Turkish club comes and offers 8 million or something. Agree January would be extremely difficult to get anything substantial. Just my opinion anyway, always some controversy round the corner.

We already know he will get plenty of abuse at every away ground and from the opposition supporters at Deepdale.
Can he handle this, put the incident behind him, move on and get back to being the aggressive forward (controlled) and scoring goals only time will tell.
What then happens in the summer, only Milly and the club can decide.

Slightly off topic here. What’s Nixon’s story out this morning titled ā€˜osmajic panel shocker’? Anybody have access to it?

That one of the three-person panel deciding his fate used to be a solicitor for 'Kick It Out', so perhaps suggesting a bit of potential bias in the case.

Nixon's also said in the comments RE: Osmajic case - "I really don’t like the feel of the whole thing. And reading through the findings confirms nobody knows what was said. So how can you ban and brand a player on that."

Even with Milly missing and other injuries, we should be picking up big points from these fixtures.

I’d say there’s no easy games amongst that lot, apart ftom potentially Wednesday on paper, and that’s not guaranteed at all.

No spine no party.

There are no easy games including Wednesday. But there are harder groups of games. We need to be winning 4 out of 7 and hopefully a couple of draws along with it. Everybody beating everyone and that keeps us in our "false position"

I wonder if there is any kind of wage reduction a player endures while out on a ban? Of course there is the fine he's been given by the FA but is there a precedent of a club having a clause in a player's contract to reduce a player's wages in the event of a lengthy ban?

He won’t be getting win and goal bonuses. Besides the FA fine, will the club also fine him or not?

The decision was on the "balance of probabilities" which basically gives the FA the authorisation to do what they think. They took into account Hannibals immediate behaviour but the overiding thing they can use in a BOP is well it was probably said so we will find him guilty even though we cannot prove it. |the lip readers were a joke.

The FA are weak and because of Hannibals ethnicity would have been scared to death not to back him they would have run out of imodium. Plus there is no right of appeal but we missed a trick as Pne and Milly should have made a complaint about Hannibal and what he said about Millies mother as they would have to have investigated it.

The outcome was bad but Milly was stupid and has lost so many games through stupidity. That's why he needs to go in January.

Lets see what happens to Hannibal with the spitting allegation, bet he is cleared. One thing we do know he is a horrible specimen of a footballer who will get found out, someone will sort him, he is lucky he is not a starter for the dingles.

There is nothing to suggest whatsoever that a comment was made about Milutin's mother or any of his family, as some people seemed to be suggesting at the time - if there was, it would've been presented as evidence by PNE/Osmajic, but it wasn't - he said he was pushed from behind by Hannibal and "he put his tongue out". That was it
