You may not require this in the slightest, if so you can just ignore it. It's just an idea I've seen on a couple of other forums to help raise funds, can often generate a couple of hundred quid to help with the site running costs.
Basically members make a bet against each other before the season starts, ususally for about £5 or £10, with the loser paying the money out to the forum, not the other person.
It's more of a pride issue and can add a bit of spice as the season goes along, as obviously the winner of the "bet" doesn't get anything.
Often somebody issues a challenge for others to take up, something like this for example:
Then you'll get Newspaper Joe accepts Danny's challenge or whatever. At the end of the season or when the bet is finished (Ie Mckenna scores) the loser would pay up the money to the forum.
There may be no interest in this as there is no personal gain in it, but some maybe will fancy it.

- Dannypne7 bets £5 that Paul Mckenna won't score a single goal this season.
- Shaky bets £10 Andy Lonergan won't get ten clean sheets this season.
- Bingdog bets £5 Neil Mellor will reach twenty league goals this season.
- Satsuma (boo, hiss) bets £10 Blackpool will finish above Preston.
- LongsiderKev bets £5 that Mark Paterson will score more goals than Chris Brown this season.
- PA=L bets £10 he can slip a reference to Agyemang being better in every David Nugent thread created.
