Central Defence

Storey has been great this season, the competition provided by Offiah has pushed him to maximise his ability.

However, for me Gibson is our number 1 central defender due to his ball playing ability. Offiah is better than Storey at RCB, and I prefer a left footer at LCB. Hughes has also been great. With everyone fit and on form, Storey drops out.
 
The quality of the wingbacks and midfield players have relieved the constant pressure the defence have been under in the last few seasons which resulted in blatant time wasting.
 
Can't argue with the OP, but credit must go to the man who has been playing behind our defence. Knowing what he can do when required breeds confidence.

Those 3 have done really well though. Offiah has been getting better and better with a run of games in his proper position and Storey was exceptional on whatever day we last played (I'm a bit lost.)

Agree but also he as improved soo much under Hecky/ coach team compared to when Lowe was here.

I felt sorry for Storey every time he had the ball and was being asked to put a cross in, drive forward etc.

Whose fault? Mmm , Dare I say Management !
 
Storey had a great first half to last season so for me he's been playing well for sometime now.

It also gives more credibility to locking down the defence last January to allow us to go after other positions in the summer

Sorry but that's an awful take. For the record I massively rate Gibson but that back three has been outstanding recently.

Gibson will get his chance again obviously. But whilst fit and performing as they have, you leave that back 3 alone & Gibson takes his place on the bench for now if he is ready soon.
 
Hughes only left effective left sided defender, Storey or Offiah on the right, which leaves Storey or Gibson for the middle.
