Hi guys,

I haven't been to many matches during my lifetime but now that I'm 21 and have a bit more income I'd really like to start making the effort and getting to see a few games in person. Because of this lack of game attendance (and also because we've gradually moved further South away from Preston), I haven't really followed the team since being a kid.

I'm now in Worcestershire (West Mids) and noticed that quite a few League One teams are around me; my girlfriend also lives up in Crewe so that offers me quite a few more nearby teams whenever I go up there for the weekend.

I decided to take a punt and buy tickets for the Bristol Away game this weekend and was just after some advice really. We're going to be getting the train from Worcester to Temple Meads and then I'm torn whether to get a taxi to the stadium from there or to wait for the service to the Parsons Street station. What are other people going to be doing?

Also just wanted general advice about when to turn up (I assume 30 mins before the game?) and how best to stay out of trouble 😛 I'm going there with my girlfriend and I've told her it might be grim but I don't want to provoke any unnecessary attention. Is the atmosphere generally more friendly nowadays between both sets of supporters or do I need to keep my head down? 😀

Any info would be great. Hopefully we'll be in for a good game and depending on how it goes it should be the first of many!

Thanks 😱

Bristol is not too bad.

You will find useful information in the thread posted by their Police Liaison Officer

I tend to walk from the station via the odd hostelry... Bristol has a lot to offer in that regard. Depends what time you plan to arrive really. The only advice on that one is to cross the river and stay on the north west side of it (only cross to the south east, and the ground, when you are actually near the pumphouse - a pub which will be full of friendly north end types but is too busy for me)

My old man took me on, it was packed. Spavins testimonial. He wanted mee to see Finney. Finney played in a 5 a side thing at half time. Game was against Manchester Collin Bell and all. Arms aloft.

Have a look at this fella . http://www.footballgroundguide.com/bristol_city/index.htm

Cracking game lads! Atmosphere was fantastic and really enjoyed it. I dragged my girlfriend along because she's never been to any game before and she loved it and definitely wants to come again. We will definitely be making the trip up to Deepdale soon 🙂 she lives in Crewe which is only a 40min direct service on the train and with me living down in Worcester we're really local to alot of the Brummy teams so should be able to make quite a few games (Home and Away).

I dunno how you all do it though, I was a nervous wreck towards the end of it.. Couldn't wait for the whistle to go!

Hi Grimezy, didn't see your post originally. No need to worry about any of the above. You'll not see any trouble unless you look for it. As for grim - the only grim bit will be some of the football.

You'll get used to it pal! And you may become accustomed to willing it to go so you don't have to watch any more..
