As you will all know by now Charlton Away on the 21st March 2009 has been dedicated as Gentry Day.

The true meaning of the day is for everyone to remember anyone they may of lost in the last 12 months, or even someone who you may miss.

This thread is for people to post the names, stories, or memories of anyone they may wish the Gentry to remember on the day. Wether they are a ex player, supporter, or family friend or relative.

Please post your message here, and your thoughts will be with everyone at the Valley on the day.

Regards

John Kelly (Preston Supporters Group):gentry:

I will start. I would like to remember my very good friend Jenny.

Jenny died 3 weeks ago. She was (prior to being ill) a season ticket holder on the Alan Kelly Town End. She was one of the nicest people I have ever met, honest, down to earth and a lady.

RIP Jenny you will be missed and remembered always.

cant make myself but i'll put forward besty (paul best) an ex work colleague and friend who always used to fetch me signed team sheets.
died sadly last christmas day after a long illness. :gentry:

I'd like to add my Uncle David Bowes who sadly passed away in Oct after a routine op. He was born and bred in Deepdale and went to live in Canada a few years ago. He always came on the game when he came home to visit and was on the web keeping tabs on the team every week. He was ST holder at Toronto and football mad. He's being brought home by his children in May and hopefully we can scatter some of his ashes at Deepdale.

RIP Uncle D

Grandad gordon

Grandad gordon

I would like to add my grandad gordon who died last august but was a season ticket holder on the finney up until the end of last season. he enjoyed coming to the match with his son and grandson and he loved the atmosphere

Two weeks ago there was the very untimely death of North End fan Angela Jolly at the age of 46. Angela had fought a long brave battle against cancer and my deepest condolences go to her husband Tommy (himself a North End fan of the old school) and the rest of Angela's family.

I had the privilege of travelling away with Tommy and Angela to many games and I know she will be missed by all who travel with St Gregs.

Rest in peace Angie.....we will remember you at Charlton on Saturday

I'm sure that many of us who travelled with him to away games will remember Dave Wilson of Cottam. who died a few short weeks ago.

Dave was a good man and a big Northender all his life.

We'll be there at Charlton with his son Andrew and we'll give them a shout for Dave.

I would like to add Geoffrey Jones a good mate of my wife and myself ,a life long northender and season ticket holder who sadly passed away in October last year far to soon at only 57 years old .Its a shame he didn,t live long enough to see his team in the top division.

My mum Ethel and her sister and favourite auntie Connie who passed away
within weeks of each other this time last year, both PNE fans especially during
the Finney years, missing you both.

I would mention my mum, but Joan already has!

Thanks Joan, much appreciated.

A born and bred north ender

A born and bred north ender

i would like to add my son, taken from me less that a year ago aged 19.

I took him to his first game when he was 4 vs Lincoln City 94/95 season i think, went on the old town end didn't tell him what to expect and i wish i had a picture of his face when the drums, band and fans started up. It was priceless. From that day he was hooked. Went on season after season after that with me and travelled to Stoke,Leeds amongst others and the ill fated trip to the millenium stadium.

Ever the eternal optimist, even with simmo in charge he though we could get in the premiership.

Gone but never fogotten
RIP Mike.

My Step Mother and Goerge Green. Goerge was a great fan of PNE and took me to my first games. Thank You Goerge. RIP George and my Step Mother.

Pete, it was lovely to see your dad at Deepdale yesterday and, after all he has been through, I am so happy for him that we won too. That game should be dedicated to him he is such a nice man. You are extremely lucky Pete, you have absolutely wonderful parents, I am honoured to know them. :gentry:

Not within the last twelve months, but a little before - ironically just before AI's first game in charge - one of PNE's greatest fans, my dad. The very last match he saw - after a lifetime in which, as highlights, he saw Tom Finney many times and also attended the 64 Cup Final - was the first half of the debacle against Colchester in Simmo's last couple of months in charge. He left the match at half-time because he hadn't the strength to continue, not because he was one of those people who deserted the team in times of trouble. Mind you like a lot of older people he was always anxious to avoid the crush at the end of a match and in his later years would leave a couple of minutes before the end whatever the state of the game. If any of you ever saw a man in a beige-coloured jacket leaving the SFTS - from the seats about a quarter of the way along from the Kop - with the match in its last minutes that was him. In his late 60s - back in the 80s - he actually had a heart attack while walking home through Holme Slack after a game, very few people can say that supporting this team has very nearly killed them - but I suppose he could.

I would like to add Jimmy Milne to that list, seeing as he is a relative of mine and a great smile came across his face whenever talking about PNE. Lived on Lansdowne Rd in the latter stages of his life a stones throw away from Deepdale.

I would like to add my dearly departed Dad - Keith - you know we watched PNE all over the place and the memories are so special. His Grandson Adam is the pitch side announcer - so much for comments elsewhere on this site re these guys doing the job for their own ego - Adam is proud and priviledged to represent the club and you know he will never forget the times when he watched with his grandad from the terraces - memories of loved ones.
