GENTRY DAY - Match Day Thread - West Brom v PNE - 13/04/2019 - KO:15:00

I was told at the game that a disabled kid had been pushed down the stairs. I actually know one of the 3 blokes that have been arrested. He told me that it started kicking off in the crowd, not sure what about. The kid was shoved out the way in the melee rather than deliberately shoved.

It then kicked off between quite a few people in the concourse which I also didn't see. I must say, the police/stewards were being cocks before the match, one of our lot didn't get in and when we asked the steward why they weren't letting him in were told it was because they had been watching him in the fanzone and his behaviour meant he couldn't come in. All he had been doing was dancing with the woman who was hosting the thing and she actually said that he'd been brilliant and she wished more people got that involved.

No excusing the punching of the steward or the shoving of the police officer but the whole thing was handled badly by everyone involved.
Interesting how you know one of the three blokes arrested in one incident, then had a mate who wasn't even allowed into the stadium because of his behaviour in another incident, and also had a connection to one of the lads who was insulting that lass at Blackburn about having a sexually transmitted disease in another! Blimey Ben ! I'd be getting a bit worried about your travelling companions tbh.

Loadsamoney mates who 'do what they want' , money no object 🙂

I was there with my disabled daughter and older kids and have to say the police and stewards were very polite and very helpful.

Couldnt do enough for us and made it a good day out.

I guess sometimes you get treated how you treat others.....

There are a small number of our away supporters that seem intent on doing what they want, when they want. I suspect I’m in a similar situation to yourself and on a few occasions I’ve not been able to enjoy away games through concern for my son. Sell out games are almost a complete no no for all sorts of reasons, I’m intrigued as to how you managed to do it with your daughter - presumably used the allocated disabled seating?

The guy on Saturday his son plays football with my brother, not the strongest connection. The lad not allowed in was just on our minibus, never actually met him previously. The incident at Blackburn, I have no idea who was chanting that, my cousin knows the girl who it was aimed at.

Nice try though.

wld - when tickets are announced for away games 'we' can go to (usually 1 disabled child; 1 carer and two young adults or students depending on the clubs policy) I contact Hannah in the PNE office and ask her to book me 2 places in the disabled section and 2 seats immediately behind. She then contacts the home club and they reserve the relevant seats for me to ring our ticket office and pay over the phone. They then post them too me.

Occasionally, such as Sunderland & Wigan, we are also put in touch with their DLO to arrange disabled parking near the away end.
