I think Mads would benefit a lot by trying to simplify his game a lot more. Overcomplicating often ends up with him making stupid mistakes, and it doesn't come off anywhere near enough for him to continue as he is.

I don't agree with people who say he's lazy, or who say he's a L1 player. He has the ability in him. I think he just needs to change his approach so that he can actually become a more consistent player, instead of having the occasional amazing game, but then a number of really bad games.

Can remember going to Liverpools Melwood facility and across the walls of their indoor pitch, they had in massive print their player evaluation criteria, it was the TABS criteria:

T = Technique, Mads for me appears to have plenty ?
A = Attitude, this appears for me to be his key weakness, he let’s games bypass him
B = Balance, seems naturally gifted in this area
S = Speed, does he have pace?, is he a quick enough thinker ?

So for me he has talent, is a luxury player and the championship is possibly a step too far for him to be a consistent regular first team selection.

Strange how a small number of fans have this image of Mads being the hard done to creative genius.

He showed some skill at first but then he really lost his way, the physical side looked too much for him, he constantly gave the ball away, he couldn’t get a tackle in, and there was zero creativity. He was a liability in fact.

I think he was very frustrated with himself and he tried too hard which made it even worse, he was arguing with officials and looked a very unhappy and frustrated character.

But he has shown flashes recently and I hope he gets his mojo back this season. The goals must have helped his confidence.

But he still struggles when it comes to battling with his opponent, but games where he gets a bit of space and you can see the odd bits of that creativity again.

Crazy thing about Mads is that he can clearly strike a ball from outside the box but is just so wild in his decision making in that area.

If he shoots he scores but if he plays someone in he completely messes it up.

Couldn't give a shit whether he's a scapegoat or he's overrated. It was a great goal and I hope there's more to come.
