My Story

It is .. I so agree with that .
Just remember ( & plz don't think I'm being flippant in this case ) - Always leave a note with people and/or in your car. I badly sprained a leg once on a fell side & had to crawl about two miles. Luckily the weather was warm & it was summertime . People go out in all sorts of weather stuff & exposure is a dangerous thing. And there wasn't a signal.

I don't think anyone's talking about mountaineering.

I don't think anyone's talking about mountaineering.
I wasn't either.
This was an 'incident'' that happened on the Fells to the north of a hamlet called Tarnbrook, near Abbey stead, on the Fell called 'Ward's Stone' . Tarnbrook is less than half an hour from Lancaster in a car.
A first year Uni student sadly died from exposure on 'Lancaster Moor', located only about THREE miles east of the City, about 25 years ago. The young guy must have become disoriented and was underdressed for the conditions.
( I remember him , not simply for that remarkable fact, but also because he bore a likeness to Arsenal's Marc Overmars )

The points of my encouraging due safety diligence - still stand.

My mum passed 2 years ago today.
That feeling doesn't leave you. Had seen her the day before and spent a few hours talking to her. She'd almost gone by then, with dementia.
The only thing she did was to move her hand a bit.
Sorry to hear about your circumstances. I know how hard this is but it sounds like yours has been compounded by a bunch of twats.
Crazy's story is a sad one and it does feel like those around him have largely deserted him.

Sorry to hear about your Mum Soapy..

My Mum passed away 3.5 years ago and as she was nearing the end, my Brother and i were sat around her bed and we both held her hands as she slipped away, when suddenly she mustered up one last breath and said to both us " Please dont forget me when im gone ! " - I often think back to that moment and it never fails to make me cry.

Now got Mrs Merton's voice repeating "Introducing Marc Overmars" in my head.
Mrs Merton was brilliant...

I watched her " best bits " on TV over Xmas..

My favourite comment of hers has to be " So Debbie Mcgee , what first attracted you to the multi millionaire Paul Daniels ? "

So sorry for your loss. I can understand why you might feel guilty over a range of emotions, but here's two things I believe you should keep in mind.

1. You said you felt peace, not happy, afterwards. There's a huge difference in those two words.

2. Would your Mum rather you felt guilty, or would she rather you smiled while you remembered the good times?

Such an important distinction, so easy to forget it. ❤️

Thanks @Silverback that's a great comment and I really appreciate it.
You're welcome.

One more thing. You can and should BE HAPPY as much as you can. There's a time for grieving, crying, reflecting, anger, despair, and a ton of other things. Just remember that happy is one of them. I can tell by how you've posted and responded to others that those times will come, and you should trust yourself enough to know that you can and should be happy-without guilt. A lot. I'm sure your Mum wants that for you.

And, if you ever need someone to talk to . . . you've got a ready-made list of a lot of us that are more than happy to listen.

Thank you, its hard and don't be so polite about them.

My story goes from bad to worse. this week has been such a gut renching, mud slinging mess. Its going to take a lot of time to sort out.

I want to say thanks for the responses and the kind thoughts from the great people of this forum. Sad to.say my Mum passed away on Sunday. After all the coming and going it has come as quite considerable shock, as she was getting settled in the residential home.

I have to say it's a strange set of emotions. Obviously it's very sad to lose a parent (my dad died very suddenly many years ago when I was a teenager, but he is remembered on the Gentry Banner)., on the other hand, the person that was my Mum has been slowly slipping away for the last few years, so there is some peace now, then I also feel guilty for having those thoughts. I am sure there are many on here that have gone through similar emotions.

Not heard anything regarding a MRI scan for my head but expect that will be another 364 days after the phone consultation last month. My head condition has not been great and I missed both home games last week due to everything that was going on.

On a side note, yesterday I was going through some if my Mums momentos and came across a 1964 Cup final ticket stub.

Once again, thank you for the kind messages.

Also, @jakehake did you research hemicrania continua and if so, do you think that sounds similar to what you have been suffering with?

Firstly sorry I unintentionally got pulled in on your thread. I want to say, So sorry for your loss. Keep the good memories going because your Mum may not be with you in person, but the memories she will be and by your side in your Struggles. It may not feel it, but its my Mum memories keeping me going. What ever life throws at you, my DM is open, I might not be much use, but im an ear to listen if needed. I hope all goes well with your MRI, the result waiting is the worst. I been told I have an Autoimmune disease. just under 2 years ago, today they still not told me what it is, how it will affect me. Just tests, tests and more bloody blood tests. Result back just yesterday, Call make an appointment to see GP ASAP, nothing until the 17th. 2 weeks of Stress and I know what will happen, Off to another specialist to have tests to be referred back to GP for more tests. I hope you get the news soon and it can be sorted.

Finally.
Bad News, you missed a stunning game v Leeds (not the best but a different PNE), Good News, you missed a Boring fuck fest against Sheffield Wed. Swings and round abouts. Take care. Keep Talking, we (well I) Promise to keep listening.
