As some of us have discussed in the other thread, the way moderators close one thread and create a new one when an item of news is officially confirmed can be confusing and disrupt discussions.

What is your opinion on the mods creating new threads and what would you want to happen?

A) Keep original thread open and create a new thread in the 'PNE Discussions' section

B) Close original thread and start a new thread (CURRENT METHOD)

C) Keep original thread open and create new thread in a new 'Confirmed' section

D) Just edit the original threads title to 'xxxxxx (Confirmed)'

E) Other (Post your ideas in this thread)

Any of A, B, C or D - Leave it to the discretion of the Mods.

You do have a point that sometimes there's a bit of confusion..... but I suspect that there'll be a bit of confusion no matter which way it's done.

Not sure there should be rigid rules... hence the thought for discretion.

For what it's worth Chuy, I agree with you. Opening a new thread and closing the previous one has the effect of arresting debate.

At the moment most people seem to be in favour of the 'xxxx (Confirmed)' option.

It's a much better idea than just closing the original thread.

If this starts to be used it will be good to know that all users can make a difference to the forum and not just moderators.

4 people belive that fella.

2 think leave it alone, 2 had other ideas but couldn't be arsed saying what (indicating they just pressed it because it was the closest one, and just you opted for your own idea.

Not exactly a stunning success cha.

The current method has been proven to not be the favoured one.

I have highlighted problems with the current method and people have also voiced concerns. I would expect that the method will be changed shortly.

I pressed option E. With explanation. cha.

(but to be fair... it wasn't the most popular vote ever!)

Agree. Sometimes I`ve seen a thread only two or three replies long having `confirmed` added, whilst adding it to a thread with 20 odd pages of bickering is just plain daft..anyone logging in will find it very hard to get info without getting bored out of their skull dredging through it all.

Sorry so you did, I'm just so use to bypassing your posts I missed it!

😀

Exactly. Very good example.
