Why is it that there is such a long delay on being able to make more than one forum search?

I'm genuinely curious, but it does make it very hard to use- Google wouldn't have got far if they had it in place?

Please share your hilarious stories of not being able to do multiple searches within a short timeframe on pne-online here. I confidently predict this will win thread of the year.

I once attempted a repeat search whilst high on green tea extract. Alas, I had searched three seconds too early.

I searched again and everything was fine.

Searching is very hard on the servers - much more than just browsing the forums.

Throttling the number of searches you're allowed reduces this, with the happy by-product of pissing off spam bots too.

Well that all sounds reasonable enough... but I'm not a reasonable person so demand that something be done.

Could it be made a Patron privilege for example? I don't need to remind the powers that be just how much influence I have on this forum.

Given that the search facility seems to be used primarily to settle scores along the "but you said this last year..." lines, I say get rid of the effing thing altogether 😀
