That save.

That save.

I agree, we've been blessed with goalkeepers and also generally with strikers. Defence and midfield, less so.

How would you rank these 6 keepers? For me, it would be:

1. Pickford
2. Nash
3. Johnstone
4. Woodman
5. Iversen
6. Lonergan

Maybe I'm a bit generous to Carlo, but he always seemed in control (great defence in front of him?)

For me,

1) Pickford
Big gap
2) Johnstone
3) Nash
4) Iversen
5) Woodman
6) Lonners

People talk about Iversen, and for me Iversen is either rushing out to try and punch that cross clear (possibly missing it?) or because of his size is on his heels watching that go past him because he can't move his feet fast enough.

Iversen was a significantly better shot stopper than Woodman, it's not particularly close.

Blackburn away during lockdown was a harder save than Woodman's and he got down very well to claw it away

It was a superb save that meant we got three points instead in all likelihood of just one. Its value, though, was not just the points but that it also means we go into the next match on a high and with the feeling we are on a roll.

Woodman's distributions is miles better than Iversen's though. Would still have Iversen ahead but don't think there's loads in it.

Alan Kelly saved a hard low shot from the edge of penalty area from Martin Chivers (I think) of Spurs in the 60s.

Kelly seemed to us his free hand on the muddy turf to gain that last few inches of spring from the other side of the goal to turn the ball round the post.

That was the best PNE save I’ve ever seen, in fact the best save I’ve ever seen.

In the last 10 minutes of the 1964 FA Cup Final, Alan Kelly injured himself ( by colliding with a goalpost ) in the action of making a fantastic save. He then had to have treatment. Then WHU scored.
( That's all from my memory of watching the game on the telly, so I could be not-quite-correct )

It was the speed of the header which makes it a great save . Was a great header and a great save . In fact both keepers made great saves. The first from Riis was very good . That’s 2 points he’s earned us this season . So hats off to Freddie!!
