The first 5 and the next 5

The first 5 and the next 5

Many people including myself massively over rate teams. Spending was crazy in the summer. More than ever. Yet we haven’t played a team who I thought have been miles better than us.

This year is probably the hardest to call as to who is going to go up. I do fancy an underdog through the play offs.
Maybe that could be us. Who knows?

Coventry started the season on fire scoring goals for fun yet we are currently above them. We are doing something right at the moment and long may it continue.
Well said.
100%
Until it all goes tits up and I'll be slagging you off for such posts.

Another fascinating weekend coming up where all games in the Championship are impossible to predict.
6 out of the 8 top clubs play each other so points going to be dropped by someone.
Boro go to Southampton, will they continue their good results or will the underperforming Southampton find some form?
And looking at the rest of the fixtures the only one you could call is for Ipswich to beat Portsmouth at home, but after saying that it could be another strange result.

I may have said it on here but I've said it elsewhere, that I think this season is the closest it's been in a very long time in terms of the ability gap between the teams in this league.

The old cliché of the Championship that anyone can beat anyone has probably never been more true than it will be this season.

I can't see any team running away with it, and no obvious whipping boys either.

Sheffield United are doing a good job as whipping boys currently…. how long is that going to last ?

And who expected Wednesday to put a performance on like that at Portsmouth with a result to match ?

Big big week.
3 games in 8 days.
9 points at stake.

2 home and one away for us.

Including tonight’s game 6 of 8 top clubs playing each other, points have to be dropped somewhere.

Boro have a tricky game at Southampton.
Stoke at home to Norwich who will be looking to bounce back after last weeks poor showing against Wrexham.

Lots of other interesting contests and it being the Championship none you can really call, anyone can beat anyone.

We could be second or sliding down the table rapidly depending on results.

Onwards to the midweek duels which puts us against Hull at their place, I havnt a clue how this one is going to go, just hoping for another performance like Derby away and 3 points, but watch out for McBurnie….

And we see Boro v Stoke so points dropped there, an interesting game between Saturdays opponents Brizzle at home against underperforming Ipswich, Sheffield Utd v Southampton and Leicester v the Hollywood boys. Our opponents for next Saturday are away at Derby, a draw in that one would suit me.

With Wednesday bringing intriguing contests like Millwall v Coventry , Norwich v WBA and QPR v Oxford.

I think all matches drawn and a win for us if possible please.

We need to continue the momentum.

These betting sheets are impossible to do this season 🤯

4pts from the next 3, putting us on 20pts after 12 played wouldn't be a bad position to be in. That's on course for 77pts if my dog shit maths is accurate.

Can’t remember us often winning at West Brom

Tough few games ahead , mind you we said that at the start too

Definitely think we played Ipswich and Leicester at a good time though

West Brom is always a difficult game for us, but we could be playing them at the right time, they haven’t been great lately. Then we have both Birmingham and Sheff U at our place.

You could argue we have played and been competitive against stronger opposition, more than capable of 6/7 out of these.

But then again - it’s how we perform after an international break, sometimes it’s like we’ve never played before! Plus we have previous of helping other teams get back into form 😅

Those next 3 games are massive really.

Don't have a great record at West Brom but I firmly believe in this squad and the manager.

I'm trying not to get carried away but I just have a feeling something is happening this season. Its wide open & think the top two come the end of the season won't be what was expected when it kicked off.

The way we are playing and the unity within the squad and management, I am hoping for at least 7 point if not all 9 from our next three games.
Our lads can do it.

The WBA game takes us to 10 games in.
Can usually be a reasonable indicator to the season ahead but I think this season is very different.
We know WBA is a tough away game but they don’t look as strong as in previous years and they must be a bit concerned about our form to date.
Boro v Ipswich is the interesting Friday night game.

Ipswich and Leicester are starting to get their acts together, both have only lost once this season, guess who to …

If we could only get a win at WBA that would set us up nicely to look at the next batch of 5 games, those being homes against Birmingham, Sheffield United and Swansea, and away games at Southampton and Millwall. If only we could get 3 wins and a draw from those 5….. just dreaming….and why not.

And before anyone says anything I know, it’s one game at time….

No harm looking a bit ahead though either is there.

We got 8 points from the first 5 games.

We are on 8 points after 4 of the next 5 games, be great if we avoid defeat at WBA.

Then on to the next 5, if we can continue with that points target then momentum and confidence builds.

In an ideal world 8 points plus from each 5 games is the target.

I’m starting to worry about McCann on international duty, we need him.

I'm predicting fireworks against Swansea.
