As we are struggling to bring in any regular kids in our first team, (which is below average), I was wondering what can be done to improve our chances, even with our world beating division 2 system! 😉
I was a little annoyed to hear about Lewis Leigh situation. 20, out of contract soon, before making a mark in our league.
Surely by 19 we should have given enough lower league experience to see if they could make it or not at our level.
Surely by 18 first loan to lower league.
19, upgrade league if deserved or try in team.
Then sign before out of contract if they impress.
Any good advice on what can be done fellow north enders?

You can’t loan players to league teams if they aren’t interested. The problem we have is our youth players are playing against the league 1 and 2 youth teams so would prefer to develop there own players of similar level then someone else’s

We have just pipped Wrexham to win the Youth Alliance League trophy - a club who only set up their Cat 4 academy last summer.

The only PNE academy products to debut and make a league start in the last decade are Earl, Best & Mawene. The club deem this 'successful'.

We could run a U-23 or B team right now even at our lowly Cat 3 status, but we choose not to, cos it will cost money. So, we talk about "aspiring" to build a dome instead - cos talk costs nothing.

We are a club who fundamentally do not believe in youth development. We run it as a bare minimum enterprise, with bare minimum results.

We scream about parachute payments and FFP, then do our utmost to minimise our own potential revenues by building an ageing squad instead. That's the Hemmings' unique legacy.

The only advice I'd give to our young players, is to find another club as soon as possible. The only real pathway you have here is to obscurity.

Mediocrity is not obscurity. It's over achieving... Be grateful and stop whinging .. 😀

If this is the case surely cherry pick left over out of contract potentials that have had experiences in lower leagues and keep the ones that work dispose of one's that don't. Pne like many clubs like us need to be a rotating wheel. Fresh blood and never getting stale. Keeping stars until they are sold.
We are just a safe path club keeping experienced Jo average players who not quite good for other Champ teams but have no Prem ambitions.

Build Ingol and get academy Status, they get a Director and a Manager that understands the importance to balancing the Books that Youth bring, thats willing to give them a Chance. Ingol is more important to this than the club realise. The Youth should be seeing the First team train all the time and taking part. Having them at the same site would go a long way to encouraging the youths to move up.

I'll say it again Euxton is not a Premier League Training ground, Its a hiding place for Teflon Pete and a Vanity project for Hemmings. They could spend millions on it, its still won't be Premier League to Preston North End. It is way to far out to be an advert to the youth of Preston, it has no links to PNE, it's Just a Pitch and a hiding place. We'd be better off with the lads training at Springfields its closer and the Youth can take part.

Stoke City are spending more on a new Fanzone this Summer than we spend running our whole Academy for a year.
