This game has to be won by PNE in order for D&G to be given the job until the end of this season, otherwise I'm sure that Hemmings & Ridsdale will invite an outsider in asap to look at the squad before the transfer window opens and manage the team from here on in.

I'd like D&G to get the job as I think they could cut it with our playing squad (they ought to know just who can cut it and who will never don a white shirt again - no offense intended Ashbee but Brian Potter could probably contribute more in terms of movement and footballing nouse). The issue I see with any new manager is knowing just who we have to offload in January - i think we are all agreed that we need to keep Hume/Coutts/Mellor but i'm equally sure they are probably our top earners so i can imagine if their agents or our bank manager has a word then D&G could find it a tough baptism.

As for calls for Billy - seriously guys, no way! We need a better, more attractive style of play if we are to go places and that is not in his DNA. That, together with his loyalty attributes, means that this ex-manager should never be entrusted again with our club's fortunes.

Hello Chico, I'm not sure this is suitable as a first post, you must first post a message saying your age, location, hobbies etc and make a suitable introductory post.

Only after ten posts may you talk about football managers.

Good first post Unsy.

To be fair, he can't be faulted for footballing nouse, his reading and positional sense is quality, he just doesn't have the legs to get into the positions quick enough any more.

I bet he was a class act 5 years ago but it's a good job his contract is up at the end of the season.

I actually think they should be judged after Sheffield Wednesday game. A game where we won't be the favourites to win.

Hi Norky84 any news if were still talking with Billy's lawyer? Any progress? Just checking on my potential money spinner!! Thanks!

I'm personally not in favour of D&G getting the job but I recognise there may be a sentimental groundswell in favour of it if they do well n the next couple of games.

So if we do go down that route and in order that we don't make a big, big mistake, I'd only give them the job till the end of the season. I'm sure they'd jump at the chance and its an insurance policy for the club.

Good post!
D&G will help to bring through the youngsters, will Billy ? in the past he did show much interest. People forget he was not the best at picking players, did not NF have a transfer group headed by Pavid Pleat.

Did we have any youngsters good enough to come through when he was in charge? That was why he took a risk in signing 'youngsters' from other clubs such Nugent, Stock, Whaley, Anyinsah and Hibbert. Nottingham Forest have had a transfer committee before, and after Davies' reign there.

If D&G get the job , just think about the fun we can have with the merchandising................

No doubt Ridsdale will be alongside the catwalks in Milan & Paris selling the club to potential new investors 😀

In response to some earlier points - I too am still unconvinced by D&G (1 game is not enough even if they spotted the bleeding obvious in playing players in the right position - can imagine we shredded a few coupons on Saturday) but a session til the end of the season may give all parties a chance to see what could be done.

That said, i'm not averse to the style of play that Donny Rovers played under the O'Driscoll stewardship - I seem to remember them giving us a lesson or two in pass & move and ball retention - so i'd be okay for him to get the job. If we win easy against Carlisle then perhaps the Owls are a better test before a shout is made.

Either way, I am prepared for a season or two more in this division whilst we re-build the squad to something like the strength when we were last here. Against Stevenage we were millions of miles away from the era of Gregan, Appleton, Macken, Jackson et al and although I'm sure D&G will do better even they will have their work cut out to replicate those days with the calibre of this current squad.

Why are you too embarrassed to stick with your previous username?

hmmm - lost me. if i have ever registered before then it must have been ages ago as i cannot remember. i just got back into looking at this site following recent developments that i have witnessed at deepdale and wondered what others who follow this club were thinking. then when i saw all the stuff clamouring for the ugly Krankie to be reinstated i thought i had to say something in support of D&G or other more suitable candidates - i'd have John Beck back before BD
