to be honest I would think the problem is his bckroom team....I mean we dont need them, we have a team in place who desrve potting,,,the youth guys have done a brilliant job, plus I cant imagine david kelly would be in a rush to come back here following all that gardening we made him do....cant see past the club giving it to one or both unsworth and alexander to be honest

You are so very wrong mate. The boards no1 target. Just too many complications with BR staff maybe.

I was convinced BD would have been in place for tomorrows forum with the Riddler, could it be there is a problem with his backroom staff and the costs involved? I will be gutted if we dont get him.
Can anyone justify these sort of sentiments? The man is for himself. Never connected with the fans, always a sour puss. Defensive tactics home and away. Boring to watch. Highest draws percentage of any North End manager ever. Dull.

I think a lot of people forget just how boring the football was under Davies. Efficient, purposeful and effective but if it hadn't been for the occasional bit of brilliance from Nugent dull and predictable. The first few months under Simpson before he lost the plot were a breath of fresh air as the players looked as though the shackles had been removed and the way we played was exciting to watch (in comparison). I wouldn't welcome him back.

He comes and everyone from Hoyland Ramsdale Unsworth etc would have to go for the poisonous one to have full control.
No I didn't like how he left us and will not welcome him back.
Billy Davies is all about Billy Davies.

Winning football games was really painful to watch! Give me 'boring, painful' football and two top six finishes in a row compared to anything else we've seen since.

I must admit only terrible memories of winning matches and how to kill gamnes off. Much to the dismay of the opposition, having a full Englandf international on the books as well, shocking!
would he arrive in a helicopter - like he did at derby?
some of us have short memories. better managers have done it (gone up) with less money and played better football.
rather we played attractive football for a bit.

Top 6 is good. Play offs are good if you're not North End. 20-odd match unbeaten runs are good.
Top 2 is what high quality managers achieve. Or win more play-offs than they lose. Or don't worry too much about defeats when going all out for the win if a game is level late on.
What's better, P24 W11 D13 L 0
or P24 W15 D4 L5
Billy's style loses few games, he's a good manager with lot's of baggage. When it was still 2 points for a game he may have been called a very good manager.
It went to 3 points for a win for a reason - catch on Billy and you might take a team up AUTOMATICALLY rather than failing in the play-offs.

In one Norky lad! But I do think BD needs to have a good think who he wants with him if offered the job - Ned and the boys haven't helped him well enough over his last couple of sorties, and there's still a sour taste here, so, if he's coming then he needs to look at what's here already. If he doesn't he won't get the job - simple as!

The people who keep saying he's never coming back really piss me off, you don't know anything.
If you are so sure he's coming back, can you let us know when that will be? Cheers.
