Sounds like we did OK with an improvised team and a still less than fully match-fit Hume. We will have Smith back to give us a balanced back line for the next game and I presume we will also probably start with Hume and Tsoumou upfront. My report from the game said that thiough he missed a chance Tsoumou actually played quite well after he came on.
He played okay.. put himself about.. during our late rally. Looks like the lad has got a thing about "missing good chances" a bit like Danny Dichio a few seasons back. But I thought he looked quite comfortable in possession.
Saturday I'd play McLaughlin in the centre instead of Barton..
I thought McLaughlin looks a quality player.. he was left cruelly exposed when Parry went walk about for their second. McL seems to be a better midfielder than a defender and enjoys getting forward so I would play him as an attacking midfielder.
I was a bit disappointed with Parry.. who didn't do much apart from his penalty.
For me Barton, Mayor and Parry are luxury players.. you can afford to play one or two but certainly not all three.
Mayor was pick of the bunch..
They had so much possession for long periods it was untrue.. we didn't seem to be able to find our own players.
I'd say we were lucky to get a point..
I don't think the managerial duo got the selection right.. starting with one striker for a home game ?
Midfield never functioned properly.. and Barton was unable to open things up which is the role he is supposed to be playing because he isn't a striker. He has a decent eye and gets it positionally right.. but is far too easily robbed of possession for my liking. Time and again he lost possession and they came at us.
Back four and Stuckmann kept us in it.. although I admit we had the better chances. They always looked wobbly when we went forward.
Weird sort of game.. we could have won 4-2.. but also easily should have lost by the same score.
Again I don't like it when new people take charge and we start shipping goals.
I'd have Daley in the side before Parry or Barton.. at least the lad creates chances
