So how should Preston remember the 96 today

So how should Preston remember the 96 today

Mod hat, eh? :gentry:

Poor from from a Mod really - especially given he is making posts based upon past assumptions. Shows a clear lack of judgement and an ability to make unbiased decisions if you ask me.

He has lost my vote in the next round of elections after this, poor show.

You will find my initial post can be read in two separate ways. Well, it`s intended to.

For clarification, I was rather emotionally demonstrating my aversion to the subject becoming a battlefield.

Good work...have a go the minute I take my hat off! 🙂

And btw, don`t expect I ever got a vote from you anyway..and won`t be standing next time, 18 months is long enough for anyone! 😱

Well I'm sure they will be proud of you for wanting to use the deaths of 96 of their fellow fans to help improve the tarnished reputation of Graham Westley.

As I've said, simple goodwill should be reason enough and that was an attempt to put it into self-serving words that some in this thread might respond to.

Incidentally, Reading did play YNWA over the tannoy today. There doesn't need to be a link or a motive to show the nicer traits of our club.

Aah, poor boy having a cry?

Whilst I am glad that the victims and their family's are now finally getting some truths and answers I think it unnecessary to play another clubs anthem on a day that actually has no relevance to the tragedy . A minutes silence on the anniversary itself is the most fitting way to remember those that lost their lives.

Gill talks sense. Agree.

I disagree. I just think it would have been a nice touch. Nothing more than that.

Maybe it's for the best that they didn't, because it's obvious there are still a large portion of P.N.E. fans who can't see the bigger picture.

I wasn't meaning you or 'Gill' in that btw.

I'm sure there are lots of people who can't see the bigger picture but I agreed with with what Gill said because its a fitting respect to those that lost their lives that is not personal to PNE. Subtlety in my opinion is more respectful.

Maybe not doing anything is being respectful to your average scouser. Who knows?

Maybe not rising to media sensationalism or stereotyping and offering a subtle mark of respect with a minutes silence is the intelligent option, who knows?

Well, the moment has passed, so any discussions from now on regarding a recognition that most of us were under the wrong impressions re Hillsborough are now futile. I would say that there was more to be lost by us not playing a particular song than us effectively ignoring what has just happened.

So the summary of the 100's of posts is:-

It was a tragic loss of life
Some people felt it appropriate to offer condolence and remembrance at 15:06 and some didn't
Some peoples stereotypes and opinions of Liverpool fans changed following the published findings this week, also the same of the police and authorities
Many many differing opinions but one common thread - a tragedy of this type should never happen again thus hoping the 96 lost lives will not be in vain

Beautifully fucking illustrated!

Brilliantly summed up I think!

The scousers jumped the gates

This is cut and pasted from the report
"The fourth-century philosopher, Lactantius, wrote:
The whole point of justice consists precisely in our providing for others through humanity what we provide for our own family through affection.
The disclosed documents show that multiple factors were responsible for the deaths of the 96 victims of the Hillsborough tragedy and that the fans were not the cause of the disaster. The disclosed documents show that the bereaved families met a series of obstacles in their search for justice.

How does that fit with your insightful offering?

I held the same view prior to reading the report, however I must say that this reply is much better than the "You're a moron" "You're a Scouse-hater" and other such abuse that some posters chose to counter my view with.

Quote.

Evidence.

Question.

It isn't too difficult chaps, and really does help with a debate and discussion and should prevent insults being countered with more petty insults and dragging threads (not just this one) down. I know Mr Hero says he has read the report and still holds his opinion, which he is fully within his rights to do, but I do await his reply with great interest...
