Don't understand the berating of Wright on here. Whenever I've seen him play he's been a rock at the back and has won the vast majority of headers, just like Clarke. I think some people forget he's only 22 and is likely to improve further and become a quality CB.

Was clearly our best player in the first half yesterday and didn't put a foot wrong in the second half and like you say is still young, especially for a centre half.

Yes he was my man of the match as well.....read the game very well yesterday.....and looks to be getting his confidence back.

It is a difficult situation for Grayson. He can only accommodate Wright in a back four if Clarke plays at right back. However Clarke is not our best right back and is a far better centre back than right back and is arguably a safer option at centre back than Wright.

The pairing of Clarke and Huntington as our centre backs has been a keystone to our success and makes both players strong contenders for player of the season.

For me this will be Gally or Garner

absolutely correct IMHO rem.....but a good problem for Grayson to have

Bailey moved over to the RHS of the 2CB in the 2nd I think that helped him to play better?

This.

Either Bailey himself fancies himself as a left sided defender, or Grayson does.

Either way it's wrong, he's weak on his left foot and he was superb yesterday when moved to the right in the 2nd half.

Wright played well yesterday but he had no one to mark for the most part.

Clarke was poor at right back.

Johnstone
Wiseman, Clarke, Huntington, Laird
Humphrey, Welsh, Johnson, Gallagher
Garner, Robinson

I thought there were some really positive signs yesterday. Going forward we had many options, pace & interchange, which will only get stronger as fitness improves & understanding. Good to see Bailey back as gives us even more options, & Hugill & Little still to get fit soon. An upturn in performances & results is very, very promising

A straightforward question for those who were at the game yesterday - do Garner and Robinson look like they could form an effective partnership? Sometimes two good players together can be less than they ought to be and I have always thought that Garner works best with a robust partner who can put themselves about a bit and upset a defence. Davies obviously does that very well but Robinson doesn't strike me as that sort of player -frankly he looks to me more like an alternative to Garner rather than as a foil for him or perhaps maybe as someone who can play a wider role if Garner and someone else form a central striking partnership. I'd still like to see Garner and Ebanks-Blake get a start together - since the latter has something though not all of Davies' presence and something at least of Robinson's mobility.

It didn't quite click but potential is there for a decent partnership. Personally I think a Garner-Beckford partnership could be the most fruitful in terms of goals.

Garner, Robinson, Gallagher and Johnson gelled very well in the second half. All the movement was forward and at pace.

When Davies and Ebanks- Blake came on, it seemed laboured in comparison.

They should keep the same starting eleven on Tuesday, albeit not in a 352 formation.

Robinson caused them problems all game, but not really alongside Garns, his best work came left of Garns, even right out on the left wing. So, he's probably better in a front 3, or left wing in a 442 I think.

Yes - Buchanan is now just an accident waiting to happen and once we have Wiseman, Woods and Laird all available then there isn't even a case for having him in the squad.

So is wiseman. An over rated player imo. Feel a bit sorry for Buchanan. Lacks pace sadly but only a few weeks ago he had a very good game against Norwichs highly rated right sided player .
