So you are not a completely hopeless case - I couldn't imagine life without spinach pies. Or, when I go into Sparta on Friday, I will have some tyropitaria - feta stuffed inside filo parcels and fried (like samosas). Lovely with a cold glass of ouzo 🙂
Perhaps a lack of pastry has given me fat typing fingers....rabidly was what I meant

I am a hopeless case on many levels: pastry is the least of it!!

Well Essex

If you don’t like our butter pies or those hot ham buns I mentioned

They can always ‘do you’ hot beef with plenty of hot onions plus a dollop of mustard

Lovely Grub, none of your ‘foreign muck’ up here

We live like ‘Old Lords used to do’

Have to keep Blackpool Victoria employed as well you know

I used to be very partial to a hot roast chicken sandwich from our village pub. Sadly that's been closed for the last 25 years

No, but I better have a drive to Lathams to test my eyes ..
I totally don't eat anything sweet anymore, but I used to LOVE the profiteroles Lathams did back when they had the little shop on Northway in Broughton (this was about 35 years ago so I doubt it's still there). My grandparents lived right round the corner so we used to go there quite often.

I think they're still trading, somewhere near Asda off Eastway.

Yeah, they're on Caxton Road I think, I just meant the little shop where they started out. They've grown a bit since then!
Just had a peep on -line and a real mixed bag of ratings about them. Average of 3 out of 5 stars with all either very good/excellent to very poor/awful.
Seems they're a bit hit and miss. Looks like they've a few outlets as well including Hutton and Barton Grange.
Perhaps bigger isn't better.

I guess when you upscale recipes they lose a little something. Guessing Ando won't mind though 🙂

No doubt. With your temperance heritage. They aren’t going to break the bank with you popping in once a month for a sasparilla and a bag of scampi fries
How dare you talk down to the poor people like that ??
