McAvoy sacked (Confirmed)

McAvoy sacked (Confirmed)

SS well regarded at Plymouth and their heirarchy have moved quickly to establish him as successor. Slightly worrying in terms of exactly HOW well regarded that they haven't even blinked. They obviously see his input as a big part of their success to date.

That said, Lowe clearly has the chops.
I see this as a rushed replacement with the usual gamble by Ridsdale, no plan just replace FM with a rated Div 1 manager, but without the team that helped him get there.

Disappointed no other candidates interviewed, the usual Ridsale planning - no plan, no strategy. One thing is for sure, he won't be sidelined through injury. Anyway Mr Lowe welcome to Deepdale and best of British.

It’s not rushed at all. We’ve been looking since the Blackpool defeat and maybe even before that.

I don’t understand why he would have to resign if it was in his contract he could talk to other clubs in a higher division?

The contract just says he can talk to the other club. He still remains under contract even though he can talk to the club. So that means he either honours the contract, resigns or Plymouth sack him. He wanted the move after talking to us and resigned. If Plymouth sacked him they'd need to pay him for the remainder of his contract.

I personally feel that this decision may have been in the pipeline. Also I reckon after Ipswich sacked their manager it moved our plan on swiftly.

For once, I don't think this has been rushed at all.

Maybe we've been bounced into making a move this week due to Ipswich's interest, but I think FM's departure has been in the offing for a while.

I don't see it as rushed. I think the club knew from the Blackpool farce that FM was on his way and did a lot of work in the background. They identified who they could realistically get, sound out a few things and then went for it.

This is far more decisive than we normally are.

Let's hope so. Schumacher does seem to have been fairly integral to Lowe's success at Bury and Plymouth.

One would assume that many candidates would have been interviewed prior to offering Frankie the job, including probably Ryan Lowe. They had to move quickly if they wanted Lowe, Ipswich showing interest, and not much point repeating interviews held only a year ago.

You can’t seriously think we’ve just decided today to appoint Lowe?

Well lets hope the step up isn't too far, and he isn't reliant on his backroom staff and can adapt without them, SS for instance might be a big loss.

I hope it's agreed he can recruit a team of his choice and has the freedom to choose targets both as coaching staff, and additions to the squad, as well as dumping those he doesn't need.

You really couldn't be further from the truth.

Do people really just create scenario's in their own heads, and then stick with them?

It's my understanding that a few candidates have been sounded out over recent weeks.

If that got to the stage of formal interviews, I'm not sure, but I don't think that this appointment is as rushed as it seems.

Agreed but I'm sure others out there would be happy to join him. Didn't someone say Ryan Kidd had worked with him? I would love to see him back at the club. Gally is just starting out in his post playing career so I'd keep him. I'd move Thomo on as I think we need a new start.
