Matchday Thread PNE v Hull City - 02/03/24 - KO:3PM - Championship

I was thinking the players seem so much fitter recently but wouldn't have used that pic.

Funny isn't it. The question posed by Andy Bayes that caused the "Who was the fan, and what has he done in football. Show me his credentials" quote from Ryan Lowe was that, irrespective of squad value, we did not look a fit enough team [against Watford, and others]

We didn't.

Now we do.

Maybe the non-badged people had a point hey?

Would of taken a point today but felt we prob should of won. Ref as always in this league is a joke another clean sheet which is obviously decent and Saints will be difficult but think we could get something. Least we didn't lose to another side near us.
After Leeds that would have been too much.

Holmes for Mads though, Lowe does like to hook him. They're chalk and cheese footballers HC. I saw it as settling, which I found disappointing as I believe in keeping our best players on the pitch, it gives us more chance of winning games.
It doesn’t impact on whether or not the decision was correct at the time (I didn’t think it was incidentally) but Holmes was poor when he came on. The 94 or so minutes will probably do Riis some good physically but it’s a sign of how far Stewart is away that he didn’t come on for him as he was shattered after a magnificent shift.

Mads has been superb of late, he wasn't today. Wasn't having a bad game by any means, but the change made sense, didn't cost us and could have paid off. Safety tactics?? There was only one team looking to win the match in the closing stages.
Agreed. Mads was off his game today and nothing was working for him. Holmes did well in his place.

Well I proper enjoyed that game. I thought we played very well but decision making in final third was dodgy at times. Nevertheless a brilliant game and a fair result, although we should have had a pen for the pull back in their box. Still unbeaten COYW.

Oh and Ali McCann just wow today.

Never saw the shirt pull as was opening a packet of ready salted. They were going to show a replay but it quickly went down our end.

He was far and away the best player on the pitch.

I will say the referee did him an absolute favour by not booking him in the first few minutes when he absolutely should have done, he wouldn’t have been able to play with the same freedom if he had. A sign of things to come with that referee who was truly abysmal - I’d love to see a replay of the pull on Keane which looked blatant and a red card/penalty.
