Matchday Thread PNE v Rotherham Utd - 29/03/24 - KO:3PM - Championship
COYW! Let's keep that push going! I do think all four teams going for 6th will win today, but you never know - someone could stutter and we simply can't afford for it to be us. Monday and next Saturday are the ones where I can see others dropping points. If we take 7 or 9 from these 3 games, we'll still be in the mix - anything less than that and it's probably over.

Our record this season after the international break is won against Plymouth, drew with Millwall and lost to Cardiff. All the games have been at home. So we should get a win today if the sequence continues.
The problem is we like to end good and bad runs and Rotherham are definitely on a bad run. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose today. It would be the most North End thing to do.

On paper, we have an easy Easter weekend, but i cant remember the last time we beat Rotherham at home, and we never beat a Gary Rowett team, lets hope both of those records end this weekend
My supporting years are around 50 and until relatively recently I can’t remember playing on Good Friday afternoon at all. I presume it’s to do with modern players wanting more time between games etc but it does mean this is a game I’ll have to miss. I’ll hope to arrive home after church to a lead of several goals.
I remember Rotherham conceding a ridiculous stoppage Time own goal to give us a 2-1 win.On paper, we have an easy Easter weekend, but i cant remember the last time we beat Rotherham at home, and we never beat a Gary Rowett team, lets hope both of those records end this weekend
That’s some time ago but Rotherham spend a lot of seasons either getting relegated or promoted and this one is no exception.
Dropped too many points at home against teams struggling and that has to stop today.

Have to be giving Rotherham a slapping today if we’re serious about looking like we can get playoffs. Of the other 3 teams competing for 6th, Hull beat them 4-1 at home, and Norwich and Coventry both beat them 5-0 at home.
They’re one of the worst teams I can remember at this level. Needs to be a convincing victory (stinks of 1-0 Rotherham)

Having missed last two home games i am looking forward to the match today. Just hope we dont get dragged down to their level, a repeat of May 1971 would do me. For Spav read Mads. Enjoy the match and happy Gesture tide
Yes, I've just been wracking my brain to remember a home win against Rotherham ...and have only come up with that 3-0 Spav game!Having missed last two home games i am looking forward to the match today. I’m going to a beer festival at our local pub this afternoon so will miss the game, I really hope that I regret missing it and that we don’t slip up.
Too many think this is an easy 3 points but there’s no such thing.
Apparently Rotherham haven’t won away since 2022, that’s an ominous stat and it would be typical North End to bottle it.

We cannot afford any more indifferent performances. Every match is now the proverbial cup tie and if we win today and keep winning the tension will just ratchet up. That is the thing - winning does not diminish pressure it increases it because it raises the stakes. It then becomes a matter not just of playing well but of keeping your nerve. We now have a settled formation and everyone knows what is required. The team now has to play accordingly.
HT 0-0.......FT 2-0 😉My supporting years are around 50 and until relatively recently I can’t remember playing on Good Friday afternoon at all. Blackpool are officially the worst with 26 points. Rothertham currently have 20 so unless they pick up 2 wins from somewhere then they will officially be the worst championship team ever.Have to be giving Rotherham a slapping today if we’re serious about looking like we can get playoffs. I feel our record against Rothertham is patchy. We’ve had more defeats against them than wins since we got promoted in 2015. They did the double over us in the 20-21 season as well. They also got relegated that season which shows how awful them two results were.

This is a massive month quite a few teams we are playing in bottom half and this time around we need to step up.I’m going to a beer festival at our local pub this afternoon so will miss the game, I really hope that I regret missing it and that we don’t slip up.

As you say no easy games Rovurm are down but we know are record against them and teams around us. Some big games late on at end of season so (Hopefully) we get some wins. Still Norwich are favourites but we play them middle of April so need to be in mix still. Ps enjoy the Beer festival LIS 🍺👈
