Matchday Thread Southampton v PNE - 16/04/24 - KO:8PM - Championship

I admire your optimism but basically your asking West Brom to lose there last 3 games and for Coventry or Hull to not do better than us if they do, bearing in mind that Hull are 2 points clear of us with a better goal difference.
Good positivity though, but almost asking for a miracle.

The miracle I'm asking for is for PNE to win their matches... not for West Brom to lose theirs - they can draw the next two if you like and they reach 74 points and then it would be a showdown with PNE for the last play-off place (assuming we win our matches before then). Our record at the Hawthorns is horrendous... but that's not the point I'm making.

I don't think it outlandish to believe that Leicester will avoid defeat at home to WBA on Saturday. Pretty likely IMO.
Will West Brom win at Hillsborough?... certainly that's more likely than them winning at Leicester but Wednesday are going to be scrapping like mad. West Brom have only won 1 of their last 5 (home to Rotherham) and so are going to be lacking confidence and would be nervous... so absolutely a draw or defeat is quite possible.

Difficult game this Saints will be hoping to put some points on board to get near top if possible for them. With are injuries and current performance can't see a win tonight but we do well against big teams so as always with PNE (hoping) fair play to all supporters making the trip as well.

Saints 0 PNE 4 (Stewart x4)

R Martin sent off for acting poncy once too often.

Ryan chucks Scouts Badges into the crowd post match during celebrations.

@Liberation eats one due to starvation of almost 49 minutes. He ties his stomach in knots with his Knots Badge.

Ridsdale then knee slides in front of the celebrating away support sticking 2 fingers up. He is insinuating "2 more wins". We think.

R Martins hair then proceeds to fall out, instantaneous alopecia. He cannot cope.

I made all of this up.

Saints 0 PNE 2.
If this happens then JD every bloody credit to yeah my friend. 😅

Ah so you think it will be a draw erm I’m not so sure. 😉

Hope your right, but its still not a straight fight between us and them with Coventry & Hull in the mix.

Given i'm only 20 odd mins on the train from Southampton, then i shall be there. And even middle daughter and her Arsenal supporting boyfriend are coming along. Apparently he needs cheering up? Hoping for a committed performance from whatever the team is. There is still a chance, albeit small, so i'll be fuming if i see any flip flops....

With so many players either injured or in the red zone, I can't see any of them being risked, including Browne. I dread to think what team we will be able to field.

Good hammering tonight I reckon

The above two quotes for the most part as to why I'll not be on tonight.

Fair play to those who are.

Literally could not be facing a worse side with a decimated squad and a bunch of players in the red zone

We will be chasing possession all night and that will put real strain on the team

I just hope we put our best players out and they all want to give their all so we do our best till end of the season and give us all a bit of hope for next season.
