Matchday Thread Southampton v PNE - 16/04/24 - KO:8PM - Championship
Declaring myself a shit fan. Can't be bothered to watch this. Though what are the bets I do?
Congratulations for being the first to open a thread about a match to tell us you aren’t interested in the match. In fairness I doubt you’ll be the last.Declaring myself a shit fan. Can't be bothered to watch this. Though what are the bets I do?
Cheers - I was pointing out my own weakness - obviously pointless game, no chance any more and we will almost certainly lose - but come kick off, I'll just have a look on ifollow....Congratulations for being the first to open a thread about a match to tell us you aren’t interested in the match. I was supposed to be going today but have decided not to. Playing for nothing, the long 10 hour coach (plus two hours out of my way to get the coach), and the players probably won’t turn up and have one shot on target.
Not missed a single game all season but will for this one.

Saints 0 PNE 4 (Stewart x4)
R Martin sent off for acting poncy once too often.
Ryan chucks Scouts Badges into the crowd post match during celebrations.
@Liberation eats one due to starvation of almost 49 minutes. He ties his stomach in knots with his Knots Badge.
Ridsdale then knee slides in front of the celebrating away support sticking 2 fingers up. He is insinuating "2 more wins". We think.
R Martins hair then proceeds to fall out, instantaneous alopecia. He cannot cope.
I made all of this up.

Mathematically I don't think our play-off chance has totally disappeared so we have to go into this and play as if we still have a real chance. I am as disappointed as anyone that the possibility of a really exciting end to the season has seemingly gone and despite the injuries there has been a lack of impetus and drive in our play over the last few matches. But the injuries have been crippling and things might well have been different if we had had Browne, Potts, Whiteman, McCann and Millar consistently over those last several matches. Let's see who is available tonight and see how we fare.
Firstly well done to anyone travelling 👍
Secondly, I hope the players play in boots and not flip flops.
Thirdly it can’t be all over yet because Sybet are still offering me 66p cash out for my top six bet.
I accepted the £1 something offer for my promotion bet on Sunday.

Largely going to tick off a new ground, especially when we don't know what division Southampton will be in next season.
Just going to enjoy the occasion for what it is. It's a pressure free game really. The only thing that could ruin it is if the game is called off again. Southampton is a tedious place.

Packing the rucksacks and the hiking boots for the arduous journey
44 minutes? Safe trip to and from, Jake.
18 of those 44 minutes are sat at Traffic Lights! 😂44 minutes? Safe trip to and from, Jake.
With so many players either injured or in the red zone, I can't see any of them being risked, including Browne. I dread to think what team we will be able to field. Maybe Holmes continuing on the right with Brady in the middle. Hughes at left back with old Greg coming back in.

Yes. And more!! As I have said before, if we win our next three matches to be 72pts from 45 matches, I think it roughly 50-50 that we would play West Brom with top six in our own hands.
West Brom are the ones to catch because unless they beat Leicester away or Sheff Wed away, the most points they could have after 45 matches is 74. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t.
Obviously we’re not likely to win 4 matches on the bounce to reach 75pts but if we do, it’s like a coin-toss whether we make the play-offs. So too right this is an important game that we go all out to win. Rest players on Saturday if we’re out of it then.

Down in Newport on business , decided against my better judgement to make the trip to Southampton this afternoon ( 122 Miles ) I’ve no idea why but there will be a chap in the away end in a suit looking throughly miserable as I think we might get hammered but COYW …😃🤞👍
I admire your optimism but basically your asking West Brom to lose there last 3 games and for Coventry or Hull to not do better than us if they do, bearing in mind that Hull are 2 points clear of us with a better goal difference.Yes. Good positivity though, but almost asking for a miracle.
