Matchday Thread Southampton v PNE - 16/04/24 - KO:8PM - Championship

It’s hard to think of anything positive to come out of tonight’s match. Dead easy to see the negatives. Holmes had a terrible spell at rwb but Mads was worse. Osmajic and Riis were awful and couldn’t hold the ball up front with non existent control. Whatmough did his best in midfield but clearly a round peg in a square hole. Ched looks finished.
On the plus side, Freddy made a few good saves to keep the score down. Brady hardly made a mistake on either side. Greg shored up the left side and Mawene got some minutes under his belt and looked in front of Ledson in the pecking order. Don’t blame the manager, the players have to take the responsibility of this dire performance.

It’s these types of fans that let the board know just how happy they are with continued mediocrity.

We were lucky not to be 5 or 6 nil down at half time and he’s saying we were ok.

The same fans that gave Lowe and the players a standing ovation after another pitiful performance at Watford.

The same at Birmingham, etc etc.

We had an amazing chance to get in the play offs this season and between the board, the manager and the players, they’ve fucking blown it in brilliant fashion.
Totally agree

The players don't decide the set up though do they?
They don't decide to constantly defend deep allowing Southampton to go forward in droves with sod all pressure on the ball do they?

If he’s accepting of any part of that performance then we’ve got problems. He must think we are fcking blind

It's genuinely insulting.

Like I accepted a defeat with the situation as is. I try to be as fair as possible, and trust that Ledson and Browne couldn't manage more than a cameo, so we were stuck with a non-midfield. Sure. But the game was about as awful as it could have been.

For him to say ANY PART of that was 'excellent' is actively insulting the collective fanbase's intelligence. He can fuck off.

Don’t blame the manager it’s been the culture of this club for decades. Reach safety, hang up boots and just settle for a draw, if not don’t worry the manager will bullshit the fans about no shots being the game plan because big club, parachute payments, budgets moan, moan, moan, moan and moan some more whilst saying how lucky we all are that we “achieved “ repetition AGAIN.

He's not doing it for our benefit, he's doing it for everyone else so they can see how amazing he is.

Focused on himself 100% as per usual.

Meanwhile we all have to sit and listen to it again and again.

Poor tonight there’s no argument there … injuries must be taken into consideration- it’s not many weeks ago when we outplayed Coventry with great skill and verve - but that was with a full team, we just don’t have any squad depth - has definitely got to be a fond farewell to Greg and Ched .

Anyone that watched (or played in) that match should realise he's full of shit at this point. Craig should be getting a shortlist together tonight.

How fucking dare he.

I’m most worried about Mads, he was awful on Saturday too. Makes me worried that he doesn’t see eye to eye with Lowe.

He says and does as he pleases and Craig and Peter just leave him to it.

We’ve got the pre season in Beni though and the season tickets will be cheap again so all the sheep will come crawling back and everything will be fine.

Totally agree, sometimes I do wonder why Gallagher jumped ship and went to Stoke. Probably sussed this inept clown out there and then.

I really think Ryan Lowe should be more honest and realistic in his assessment otherwise he’s playing fans for fools to say on Sky Sports-“Second half we were excellent and more like ourselves “ … no shots, no creativity and except for Woodman we would have lost by 6 or 7.If that’s excellent either I’m not seeing football right or RL needs to have English lessons on use of adjectives!!!
